One of the less glamorous radio formats is religious radio. Here are four cuts I received in the early 80s from WCHR, Trenton, New Jersey, a 50,000W religious station. The cuts are from WB Tanner and contain some great harmonies.

Not everyone’s cup of tea – but I really liked the William B Tanner sound

Yes, some of their stuff was awful – but there were some gems too.

I think you can say that for most companies though!

Actually, the last 3 cuts are all from Gwinsound…only the first cut is Pepper-Tanner.

                Gwinsound is pretty darn good…but that Pepper-Tanner a cappella…well, it’s certainly not very good…

Well, it’s good to learn. I assumed they were from William B Tanner because on the start of the reel the station sent me, the General manager Chuck Zulker (crazy name, crazy guy) says so …

Why do you not think it’s very good? Sounds OK to me, and obviously the station liked it..

At the end of the day – companies produce what the stations ask for don’t they?
