On Friday here in Alaska, I caught the Voice Of American french service to Africa on 9410khz filling till the end of the program with VOA jingle music beds. Not a regular song, not jingles… jingle music ramp. Shortwave broadcast stations regularly end the program, before the transmitter goes off, but they’ll fill with an actual bonafide song or the stations Interval Tune, in VOA’s case that would be “Yankee Doodle”

This went on for 4 minutes till the transmitter went off at :30 after.

At 2 minutes 29 seconds into this recording, you hear the female announcer say something in French then she says “Until next time, goodbye”, some closing music lasts about 15 seconds then then go into the VOA jingle music ramp.

At 3 minutes 22 seconds, you can hear the very obvious “VOA” logo in the music bed, then.. it repeats 3 more times.

It’s nothing super great, but I appreciate lifes little quirks and thought I’d share!
