A new Classic Hits package from Reelworld:

      http://reelworld.com/jingles/packages/cool-fm

Musically it leans to earlier K-Hits/WCBS packages. I miss brass and soul and ballads and harmony, to be honest. And why does every, really, every cut starts with the logo played by an electic guitar? Where are the saxophones, acoustic guitars, strings, pianos and other solo melody carriers?

Is this an artistic or creative choice or just the fear of not screaming enough to be heared by the listeners..? I am really professionaly interested in this matter.

Also, why did they get rid of the Nashville vocal group in their demos?

This package reminds me of the previous Bob FM packages, complete with logo and tempo changes throughout. Just about every cut references a classic (Guns N’ Roses – Sweet Child O’ Mine, Def Leppard – Pour Some Sugar on Me, Kansas – Carry On Wayward Son, Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl, Yes – Owner of a Lonely Heart, Styx – Come Sail Away, J. Geils Band – Centerfold, etc). Feels like they’re going for the more rock-leaning stations with this one.

Also, anyone know what station this was originally for. The demo sounds like a generic station that doesn’t exist.

Good question, with a Top of Hour ID sung for ‘America’ instead of the licence city the package seems actually generic.

I’m guessing it provides a real altetrnative for stations that want to lean more “rock” classic hits – I really liked the WLOL pckage from (wow) way back now and it follows in thiat vein. I think if you were a pop hits classic hits / oldies station it’s a bit hard. I’d see more demand for this in the US than Europe. There’s a format and playlist this will sound strong with. That said if i were doing Rock hits I’d go for stronger male vocals or male solo on the cuts.

They’ve put out new packages for every other format this year – maybe they wanted to do one for Classic Hits, but no stations asked for one, so they put this together using a made-up station. It is a follow-up of sorts to the Bob FM packages as other said, and those have proven to be quite popular.

Ignite Jingles’ new Classic Hits package doesn’t seem to be for a real station either – can’t find a “Y95” playing “The Valley’s Greatest Hits”. https://www.ignitejingles.com/audio/139/Ignite-Classic-Hits/

Yes I understand and agree. In Europe stations like Nostalgie in France (market share 4.5% and reach 3.5 mln listeners) or Radio 10 in the Netherlands (market share 10% and reach 2 mln listeners) tend to have a broader playlist which leads to great musically interesting packages with cuts that reflect motown, soul, pop and rock’n’roll. Classic hits stations that only play rock don’t have big audiences in Europe.
