(New York-AP) — John A. Gambling, a legendary broadcaster and the second of three generations of John Gamblings to host the “Rambling with Gambling” morning show has died. He was 73.

Gambling died of heart failure yesterday in Florida, according to Natalie Batos Vacca, producer of the morning show at the radio station 710 WOR-AM, where Gambling worked until his retirement in 1991.

Gambling began hosting “Rambling with Gambling” in 1959, when he took over the show from his father, John B. Gambling, who started the program in 1925.

For more than three decades, he continued the tradition of news, interviews and lighthearted talk that his father began.

Gambling’s son, John R. Gambling, was the show’s host from 1991 to 2000, when the station decided not to renew his contract.

John A. Gambling was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2000.
