CKHD in Assiniboia just launched with a Classic Hits format and JAM jingles. I’ve heard cuts from the HitRadio series and various Z100 packages so far. Plus the logo and branding are a tribute to the ’80s CBS Hitradio stations like KHTR, KKHR, and WHTT.

First heard about it last tuesday. It was interesting.

They used to be Cat Country 98 (with logo similar to WPUR 107.3 Atlantic City) and they used RW’s WCTO 2006.

This station joins fellow Canadian stations like 89.9 The Wave in Halifax, CHIN-AM-FM in Toronto, CHAB Moose Jaw (and some more) as the stations that still use JAM here in Canada to this day.

This station reminds me of my days at G98 WGCL Cleveland, OH and the late Dave Robbins’ WNCI Columbus, OH. He was the PD when JAM’s HitRadio package was on CBS Radio’s KHTR, St Louis, MO aired. I almost got hired at KHTR but WGCL blocked that. He finally hired me at WNCI 5 years later. Best PD with the best jingle budget of the Nationwide Insurance company’s Nationwide Communications. Great city and fun station.

I dig the CKHD visual logo, harkens back to mid 80’s CBS radio FM stations imagery.

The jingles are perfect. JAM at their best!

Gonna be listening to CKHD in 2024.
