And a great show it was. I used to only ever listen to radio for (a) the jingles and (b) the presenters, but with this I’m also – shock horror – really enjoying the music. And I’m hoping we can prevail on Mr W to share a telescoped version of the show in due course. GB

I’ll echo your comments Geoff, the music was superb. This might make me sound like a pop music philistine but I didn’t know Stevie Wonder recorded ‘We Can Work it Out’!

Totally agree. My Sunday nights (always fun of anxiety about the week ahead) now provide the pleasure of listening to someone who talks wittily and intelligently to me the listener and, in this show, says nice things about my 29th wedding anniversary. How did that happen?

Great audio – and listen particularly for the sensitive discussion of the ‘should radio’ jingles.

In Adobe Audition, what sort of settings would be appropriate to “re-create” a reverb effect similar to what Jon has going on? Thanks.

This was not of choice but as Jon said at the start the headphones was not working !

I still think he did great job without them better than most with !

Jon did refer to a headphone problem – then later said how at WABC when he visited them all those years ago
that there would be an open speaker in the studio just on the verge of howl-round.

GW – could Jon have an actual spring reverb unit?
I used to have one, and I much regret now binning it yonks ago!

I’d be surprised if he didn’t, but it should be possible to create something “similar” in Adobe.

I still use £6-99 Magix Audio Cleaning Lab – its still got the best “reverb” (to my aging ears at least),
but I find many of the more “fancy” contemporary sooper-dooper “digital processing” software ones
a bit rough/sharpish rather than ones that try to emulate “analogue reverb” a bit better.

Wish JMW would let us know how he does it though!
Its closer to old 1960s AM WABC I suspect, and that’s got to be what he’s technically trying to re-create.
