Enable “Download button” please, ‘cos anything over 5-10 minutes long per file is not always able to be
listened to in real time, especially 1/2-hour say or more.
      Thanks!

How do i enable the download button?

Someone needs to send a PAMS Series 34A or 34B demo to Allan. That “brand new jingle” at 8:08 is in fact a re-sing! It’s a REALLY good one, but a re-sing nonetheless. Same goes for the Series 36A jingle at 12:19. I’ve always loved that Contempra package!

          That’s right–“Poke the Bear”…:)

            DAmmit Neil!
I’ve just done a “test run”
            [deleted]

            And it worked OK.

            Edit:-
            link deleted now.

For anyone wanting to “know how”…

              1) When uploading a “track”, do so as usual.
              2) Select “public” or “private” (“private” means the link will only be “published” wherever its copied/pasted to, e.g. this forum)
              3) Click on “Permissions”
              4) Click on “Access” (usually top left hand of choices, and likely “greyed-out” by default.
              5) Click on “Enable Direct Downloads”
              6) Ensure “Upload Complete” IS SHOWN
              7) Click on “Save” button
              8) Get/copy/paste-over the “blued” Share link field as normal.

              a) When running the link from e.g. here on JM, when the audio file characteristic id displayed, click on “More” (three dots?)
              b) Select/click “Download File”, and the audio file should start downloading, and may show a progress box on lower left hand screen.

[ If any errors in the above on my part, corrections/feedback appreciated! IJ ]

PS – at the moment I’m trying to see if the “Download…” can be enabled retrospectively on an existing upload,
but haven’t got that going as yet.

                Retrospectively applying “Download Button”…

                1) Goto “Tracks”
                2) Find desired track
                3) Check the LHS box beside filename
                4) Click on the “pencil” icon towards RHS
                5) Select the “Permissions” as before
                6) Carry out Access/Enable as previous post
                7) Click “Save Changes”

Its possible that the “saved change” MIGHT change the private code at the end of the file link compared
with an original cut/paste posting – about to try to check that; that would disable “old” versions of the link

                  Hmmm
“working” but might still have a “third party access without needing S/c username/etc” access bug.

Neil – can you try testing the above links for me please if you’re “live” at the moment?
                  Thanks!

                      Good-oh! :^)

Did you attempt to download the item below “xyz” above OK, BUT WITHOUT HAVING TO PUT YOUR S/C name and password in though?
Thats the bug I haven’t had a chance to clear yet – the download should be “private” but accesible solely with my link
but not need S/c “membership” to do it.

Hullo Neil…just arrived back…your file downloading OK and also d/box.
                            Thats all fine.

Now, perhaps we’ve got a bit of wires crossed now?

Further up the page, I was trying to create a “Noddy Guide” of steps as how to setup or retrospectively apply
the DL mode for anyone else who wants to apply it when using S/c, and using a couple of my existing
S/c files to try it out and test DL.

The “bug” I mentioned seems to “need” someone to login with theie S/c name & PW to be able to download
a file from S/c, or at least a “private” one. I’m trying to ensure that while “private” anyone on JM can still do
a file download OK from the “private” or “secret” S/c link one might post to this forum, but avoid “public”
                            rubbish happening.

I’m hoping any JMer might have seen how to get around this hiccup before?

For a moment back ontopic – the Allan Sniffen audio…

                              1) agreed – PAMS 34 and 36 items – the 34 was on BBC Radio One in 1967 – badly!!!
                              2) that programme was a VERY hard listen – heavy compression and long-tail reverb was great sound
on USA AM radio in the ’60s, ’70s – I’ve heard many airchecks of how effective that could be.

But on wider bandwidth internet it sounds very harsh – the jingle reverb getting extended so far by long tail
reverb somewhat scrambles the instrumentation/vocals. And the “intake of breath” of deejay speech gets
                              heavily over-emphasised by the compressor.

Remember that Allan was playing an aircheck (already processed with reverb) on the air…going through the processing and reverb AGAIN. So, you’re hearing DOUBLE the effects on the Jon segment.

I thought only the microphone went through the reverb…?

Listen to any ancient WABC airchecks and certainly e.g. sticking carts can be heard with reverb tail at air,
so presumably Allan and Jon “re-create the WABC sound” as authentically as they can but using digital
reverb instead of the old plate/spring mechanical methods.
