Ok, so not the worlds best signal, but I delight in hearing jingles while DXing.

This starts off very briefly with the VOA service in French on 9485khz via Kuwait to “Africa” which ends at 2030UTc then switches to Hausa from the same transmitter to “Africa” but drastically changes the azimuth they beam Hausa at.

About 36 seconds in is the jingle

I’ve got a much clearer version of this now, recorded off the air.

This is what 20-25 megwatts ERP of Shortwave pow-pow-power on 9800khz will sound like from 5000 miles away via a Thailand transmitter site when you’re in the main lobe…. and they even still use jingles.. “Direct From Washington……the Voice Of america” and a WMAL News music bed.

Here’s the audio recorded off the air, about as clear as you’re going to get that isnt a studio master copy:

There’s a CD quality version of that cut and many other VOA/-Europe/Music Mix jingles on track 7 of the JAM 30th birthday CD. There were only 30 official and numbered sets produced, but bootleg copies are everywhere!!

They’ve certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of that jingle, in every sense of the word!

I’ve heard the jingle on multiple VOA language services broadcasting via shortwave.

I can’t recall having heard it on the english service lately.. but I’ve heard it on french, hausa and a few others
