I would be grateful if anyone could tell me where I can download the Sue Manning jingles used from about 1978 preferably at a high bitrate.

The jingles were lines like ‘ Capital Radio in tune with London Town, Capital Radio keeps going round and around, open every window, open every door, we’re gonna bring a little ray of sunshine to you on 194’

      ‘Capital 194’

‘Capital 194 in tune with London ooo ohhh’

Roger Scott used these a great deal and they are my early memories of this great station.

A low bitrate of these is on http://freespace.virgin.net/thisisilr.net

A higher bitrate would be great.

      Thank You :D

        Hi Alex

Sue Manning did two packages for Capital Radio – 1978 and 1982. The 82 has been widely dubbed across the collecting fraternity and I could probably sort you out a CD of the full package.

The 78 is much more rare. I’m not aware of any collectors with a decent stereo dub.

I have a good dub from a cart labelled NEW MAIN THEME 36″ This was the first cut that aired in 1978 from Sue Manning and for many months the new and established jingles ran concurrently. I will try and post it here later today to whet your appetite.

Let me know if you do find the package !

        Regards

Thank very much for your reply. The jingles I am thinking of are on the link shown above – this is ILR for capital in the first set. They are at 2min 52sec and 4min 35 sec towards the end after the blue mink ones.

If you were able to listen to them and know where I could get them at a higher bitrate than 16kbps as they are on the above site I would be most grateful.

From memory these mentioned were the most catchy and thus used very extensively at that time. I remember hearing them about 1980ish.

Hope you can help – a CD would be wonderful. Have only just recently tried to track these or any other jingles down, but old favourates are memorable and sometimes better than the newer material imho.

          Thanks

          Alex

          Thank Alex

            Hi Alex

As I’ve said I don’t know where you’d find the 78 package in decent quality. If you do locate it many of us would be very interested as it’s not generally available.

David Hemsley has sent me some cuts from the 1978 in the past but he’d be the first to agree the quality wasn’t brilliant and they were all in mono.

PM me with your address & get the 1982 package to you for Xmas !

            Regards

Alex, if you are still searching for them I have nearly all the jingles you mention in excellent fm stereo. Only problem is, they are only on audio tape. (Not clever enough to get them onto my pc yet….!) Adrian Love used them extensively on his ‘Open Line’ prog. Let me know if you are still interested and I can make up a tape for you. Simon.
