Hi All,
I know it’s past the Christmas season, but I thought I’d post anyway. A friend of mine recently sent me about 2 GB of jingles and other radio things. Among them, I found this.
Does anyone have any backstory as to this? I know it was produced in part by Jim West of TM, but that’s it. Any help unraveling this is much appreciated.

January 18, 2019 at 2:49 am #96203Tracy CarmanMemberThere’s no mystery… I have an original set given to me by the late Jim West along with the mixdown master reels that created the CDs. These were produced and pressed mainly for “Music Of Your Life” syndicated stations to use as giveaways. They also used to produce albums, identical except different art work, for MOYL radio stations. I have copies of many of these from Jim, though some were destroyed by water damage in my basement. Jim was doing the syndication for the format, which was created by the late Al Hamm.

Oh cool. So are these CDs still available for purchase, if only just to get that particular track in good old WAV? If so, that would be fantastic!

Sadly, they aren’t. And I only grabbed one copy from Jim. The last time I went to extract the discs as .wav files, I had problems with them. I’m in the middle of home renovations so I packed up all of my CDs (around 20 egg cartons worth) and put them in the warehouse for storage so I couldn’t locate it easily at the moment. I’ll have to look, because I was able to get SOME tracks to extract w/o issues on one of the hard drives.

https://youtu.be/QQ0CZB_DUzEThis is actually one of my favorite a cappella groups. They’re called Voctave. If you go under the about link, you can find info on all their members.
I’m not sure which one sings the super high notes, but whoever she is she’s amazing.
January 19, 2019 at 10:26 pm #94803GrahamCollinsThanks Geoff – I had goose bumps on my arms listening to that – truly spell-binding.
January 20, 2019 at 2:56 am #94805ntcarver0MemberAuthor@GrahamCollins, that is exactly what they are. Spell-binding.
Here’s another beautiful Voctave arrangement. It’s actually my personal favorite.

Wondering if that was “stacked” or whether they were “strong enough” to carry that intense sound in one layer?January 20, 2019 at 4:41 pm #94581UKJinglesMemberOn a vaguely unrelated note, I’m fascinated by this performance – who the singers are, and where they are. There are certainly lots of them:

I think we’re talking about two different groups here….I’m on about this one that was also posted by ratnob
(JameyRay) But some of the singers in the Voctave Group look different?
Are they one and the same and no I don’t recognise any of them Martin?
Beautiful harmonies without stacking as well…..
Just a pity there’s no video of them singing Jingles!January 20, 2019 at 8:35 pm #93866ntcarver0MemberAuthorNo, they are one in the same. Jamey Ray writes the arrangements for Voctave who then record them.
I have no idea who the singers are in each recording, but I’m guessing that members have came and gone just like in any vocal group.
January 21, 2019 at 12:35 am #93721bobgreenradioMemberi had a non-released version of ‘yesterday’ by trella, circa 1967ish that was beyond dynamic.
simply wonderful.
got it from gary edens (pams).
try to access that recording, most impressiveJanuary 21, 2019 at 7:54 pm #93636BigdaveA search of EBay does bring up this every now and again…

If my memory serves me right, they feature some of the same Jim West produced tracks.
Then of course, there is the crossover between the Dallas jingle business, and the Vocal Majority – led for many years by Jim Clancy, and now by his son Greg, plus inclusive of a number of session vocalists including Jeff Oxley, and there is a version of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes on one of their many albums, which features a guest appearance from Abby Holmes.
Plus…there was the Collection…to which you’ll spot a few more familiar faces and voices..
