Just wondering what collectors think of this as an idea. As well as the monthly collections we release, if we were to do it, would there be any interest in making the previous individual tracks available for $5 each?

For example, there might be several tracks spread over the MPF Basics series you want, but not the others. It gives you the option of cherry picking from previous collections where full dubs aren’t available, (Thompson Creative, Alfasound, Muff Murfin). If we were to offer this, is it something that might interest you for $5 each?

I think you are creating extra work for yourselves for little incremental reward – I don’t think the current series is expensive breaking out single tracks may stop some people buying a volume number for one track therefore causing you more work for less return. I’m all for extra value adds that give us more and make you more money – I’m not sure this is the best route.

Yes! I like this idea. I have yet to see a monthly release where I’m interested in ALL the tracks. (No offense; I guess I’m just picky!) :-)

So I’d be more likely to spend money if individual tracks were made available.

I’ve responded directly via the MPF f/b page – but I welcome the idea :^)

Similarly to Tommy above – I’d rather spend the money (and indeed, more,
of what I can afford) and for what I would like.

            May I constructively suggest:-

As Neal proposes – Run a pilot test in the way he suggests. Plenty of “back catalogue”
tracks I’m sure many of us would like without the “clutter”. If there’s software/database
that can avoid every dub/transaction having to be hand-tweaked by TC, even better.

The other alternative is to split MPF Basics releases into TWO categories of
            releases in future…

            a) UK-related / UK stations / producers – a smaller cheaper bundle per month,
OR maybe quarterly not monthly releases instead of UK material?
            b) USA/Canada et al in whatever form or price

I know that would mean that the UK category would risk “burn out” what
might be “available for release” more quickly than the current setup, as
clearly the amount of archive DATs, reels, etc MPF have from US producers’
archive material is naturally huge by comparison.

Whatever way, as Michael says, it has to be sensible for MPF to manage / costs / time versus revenue
            – Occam’s razor.

But I certainly don’t really want to have to buy lots of versions of Synchronism
etc for K-Ludge Smalltown, and I’m sure USA collectors similarly aren’t
hotly after an Alfasound custom for The Rock of Haslemere…

            { $5 = £3.80 }

              Yes I would welcome a by-the-package choice. :-)

not a bad idea. out of 4 packages, 1 or 2 in the collection would be of interest, and the others not, so yes. if i understand the plan, a good idea

I like the idea of this. Quite often I’ll only be interested in the UK package, but find spending $20 for the full collection for just one track hard to justify.
