I went to the JAM website and I quickly noticed that Magic 105.1 WMGC in Detroit is mentioned on the little “On-Air” box along with other stations that are currently using their respective packages. I then listened to the stream hoping to catch at least one cut of the said package and noticed that the shotgun they just played sounds a bit different than the rest of the packages in its library, if it indeed they are airing a brand new custom JAM package. The vocal group sounds similar to the ReelWorld packages.
If I am correct about this, maybe the PD from WMGC retaliated by asking JAM to produce a custom package in response to their rival WNIC dropping their JAM package to a resing of a ReelWorld AC package. Looks like JAM is coming up with fresh new ideas, finally.
June 25, 2010 at 5:15 am #74445mjb1124MemberI listened on the webstream for a bit, and I heard cuts from the two “Feel the Magic” packages. Have they been using these packages all along, or is this a return to JAM after a hiatus? I know they had two custom packages from Zone…
June 25, 2010 at 7:10 am #74447MarcMannetjeI hope JAM made new cuts! The 7 note logo is a bit flat to be honest, it doesn't jump out of my radio, but the musical arrangements are fine…
June 25, 2010 at 8:45 am #74449BarrasI`ve recorded two minutes worth of the WMGC Detroit jingles off the webstream and just to keep the continuity of the JAM aircheck post going, I`ve uploaded the audio here…

Someone take a look at the photo above….Is that Gary Berkowitz in that photo? Could that be the reason why WMGC has gone back to JAM?
June 25, 2010 at 1:15 pm #74452MarcMannetjeThat is Gary Berk. Well spotted there Dogman! Chris Edmonds is ex-WNIC by the way. Berkowitz did the 90s-revival of WNIC (It's NICE in Detroit) very succesfully, also with JAM jingles. The ratings are better for Magic than for WNIC these days… I can imagine now why.

June 25, 2010 at 6:43 pm #74455garyberkOk guys, here's the scoop on Detroit…I went back to Magic 105.1 in April. As many of you know, where I go, so goes Jam! We put the “Feel the Magic” cuts back on the air immediately. There were 3 packages done when we first went on the air (in 2001)and we took some from each package. Jon did a new re-mix of the top hour (which is from the last of the 3 packages). We're using the “And The Weather is” cut with the jock doing the description, vs the singers doing it…check out the top hour. Its very cool between some stuff we did (“Hello Detroit”) and Jon's new mix. BTW…our ratings are going up every week.

Indeed welcome to JingleMad Gary – you'll find that many of us on this side of the Pond are also very much JAM fans – and have the Personal Cuts to prove it!

A very belated welcome aboard!June 26, 2010 at 2:34 am #74462radioboy949Love the Magic 105.1 cuts. High class! Reminds me of the later KOST stuff we used at WWRM/Tampa.

It's good to have someone of your calibre contribute here Gary ~ if I'd 'had your job' I might have stayed in Radio a few years longer…!
