One of my favorite stations growing up was WJET in Erie, PA. They evolved over the years from AM to AM Stereo to FM. And when they went stereo, they joined the JAM bandwagon and started using professional sweepers. I’ve located a few tidbits and wanted to share. Not bad for a small/medium market station.

I know I`ve mentioned this several times before in previous postings, compare the jingle sound of a small-town radio station in the States (like WJET) to a small-town UK radio station (i.e. Radio Blandshire) and the Americans come out on top every time. Thanks for letting us hear this Rich.

You are absolutely correct about JET…not only are they heritage calls, but Erie is a very small city and that station sounded hot.

Glad you guys like it. Erie is about 108,000 people and sustain a pretty good market at #166. Unfortunately, there is no more WJET FM. The corporate buy out trend you know. However, the AM calls have been revived and still reside in Erie. The calls have never been off the air or left Erie since they were created. And many good jocks have gone through there. Gotta start somewhere.

I’m hoping to post some more JETFM 102 very soon.
