That’s because the third cut isn’t a JAM cut at all; it’s a Muff Murfin/Tom Merriman (TM) cut. In the main, the Wish FM montage features JAM “KIIS/90” and “Hot KIIS” re-sings as you have mentioned, but there are several TM cuts thrown in there too. Although I’m not sure what the TM package in question is actually officially called, I’m sure it is a 102.7 KIIS package.

You can find a demo of the said package at http://www.simrek.nl/English/ under the name “Simrex Kiss”.

Incidentally, I remember the first two cuts on the montage sung for 96.6 TFM as part of their 1995 TM package.

Anyone shed any light? It seems strange that a station would have jingles from two different sources?

      Thanks for the download!

That Simrek Kiss package was originally called ‘KIIS 94’ for KIIS Los Angeles. It was never aired, but the station was used in the demo as the sales pitch.

When this particular package came out, the ‘TM’ had gone to Century 21 to become TM Century so technically it wasn’t a TM package. A little known fact is that after the merger, Tom Merriman traded as ‘MPT’ (Merriman, Patrick & Turner) as well as ‘Regal Studios and issued a few demo’s (with KIIS 94 being one of them).

As Mark said, TFM got it resung in 1995.

I can see what you mean about that cut though. It does bear a remarkable similarity to one of the JAM KIIS ’90 cuts.

              Thanks Neal for the information.

The whole TM thing has always had me confused . For example, if I wanted a TM package re-sung such as the aforementioned ‘KIIS 94’, would I go to TM Century or Simrek/Muff Murfin??? :?

Actually, it’s kind of confusing for everyone involved! If you wanted KIIS ’94 resung, you would go to Muff as he was (and still is) the official UK agent for Tom Merriman. Also, Muff is still licenced to sell the old TM stuff (Syncronism for example). You could get it sung over in the UK at his studios, or you can request that it’s sung in the US with Tom’s sessions singers.

When I was at TM Century a few months back, we talked about the Muff/TM Century situation. We all drew blank faces. But yeah, officially he is still licensed to sell the TM stuff. That includes the stuff that TM Century have up at Studio Dragonfly (like Dallas Power or The Legend).

At Stourbridge FM, we used cuts from Dallas Power and the WTRK/Super Station package a back in 2001 which came through Muff, and then at K107.2 we used cuts from Knockout and Retaliate a couple years ago.

Also, thanks Mark for solving another one of my Jingle mysteries. I’ve wondered for years as to which package those TFM cuts came from. I kind of knew it wasn’t a JAM package, however never thought to scour the Simrek stuff before. Have a couple of examples somewhere, will try and dig out. Incidently, wasn’t this slightly after 1995, as I’m sure TFM were using their JAM Energy cuts through 95? Always liked the weather bed.

I’m not sure, if you were in the US, if you’d go to either. I think some of those MPT/Muff pkgs were also being syndicated by Tony Griffin Productions at one point, and later, Ben Freedman.

Actually looking at this topic after all this time…
One thing I did notice is that you can purchase Cuts from (old) TM Packages (like I did) vastly cheaper then going through Muff Murfin from TMC….
But the Muff Murfin rule still applies if you are a Radio Station wanting a package?
Its a strange old world eh! 😆

I have the original package on audio cassette. Apparently station bosses weren't happy with the original sound, so the jingles were remixed at parent station Scot FM just prior to launch!
