Here is our package from 1981 a custom done by Jon@Jam.
most of the cuts are here at least my faves. 40 second song at end also have a slower 30 second version with different lyrics if anyone is interested.

Thanks for posting the WGAR cuts Bill…(and like Michael I can hear Gem AM also) in fact, have a listen to this Bill, probably your first time in hearing this re-sing for the UK`s Gem AM in Nottingham.

            David & Michael,
That is very cool. What year did they have the jingles done? I had never heard any other stations in the states that got our package. I will pass this jingle along to the old PD he will get a kick out of it.

That's from 1990, featuring the high registered vocals of Jackie Dixon. I'm sure the then programme controller Len Groat posted a photo of the vocalists from that session on this site a couple of years ago.

Dx-ing from Chicago in 1981, I loved that package -I have lots of tape of WGAR off air from then… I never thought I'd hear them clean!

No problem Bill…lets not forget the other 30 second jingle song for WGAR
“Cleveland you`ve come a long way…follow it all with 1220 WGAR”.

Here`s the Gem AM resing and the original for WGAR.

Listed on the JAM website as:

Follow the Leader WGAR Cleveland, OH 1981

It`s a package/demo I hope will be on the new JAM Classic demo C.D.

Here`s the insightful post from Len Groat that Robin metioned earlier re: Jackie Dixon singing on “Follow The Leader”…

Having just discovered this very excellent site, and knowing that a 'picture speaks a thousand words' (rather like a sung jingle beats a gravelly ident hollow?!) I would like to contribute some visual history as opposed to audio!

I 'grew up' with Big 'L' in London in the mid-60's, so when I found myself 25 years later using some of the 60's PAMS singers at JAM in 1991, I HAD to get a picture. The amazing Jackie Dixon was already partly retired but sang her heart out on 'Follow the Leader' and 'I'd Rather be in Denver 'cuts, with fellow PAMS singers Jim Clancy, Dan Alexander and Judy Palma. WHAT a great session for GEM AM!

The other picture is at Alfasound's Manchester studios in 1984. Sue, Sheila and Melanie were the 3 female vocalists, and for just one packed we used the late much missed Clifford T. Ward for some solos. In 1987 we flew across Jackie Dixon to be part of our vocal group, a FIRST for British jingles thanks to Alfasound, but of course were were later able to use her in Dallas. It Jackie hitting the 'top notes' on some of those 'Follow the Leader ' cuts for GEM !

Enjoy the pics, they are in the Anoraks album, because after 26 years in radio I was STILL just an anorak!!

Oh, I love the sound of early '80s JAM. Thanks!
