Michael, I fear the fashion for solo vocals that sound like Aretha's sister and Rod's brother are the 'in thing' at present… and they are rather easier to deliver than 5 or 7 part harmonies…And of course there are the screeeechy packages where they all end on this strange last UP note…..
But give me JAM, yesterday, today and tomorrow…
I'll post the other 3 JAM cuts in due course for those who can hear the quality….
July 21, 2007 at 9:50 am #31520bland75MemberDo It Again Cut 1 was the first personal cut I ordered from JAM – it is probably one of their best Top of the Hour cuts and Len is so right in saying it still sounds great on the air 14 years after it was first produced for WCBS-FM.
http://www.paulbland.homechoice.co.uk/PBDIACut1.mp3It even suprised me that JAM used my version of the jingle on the Personal Cuts Demo !!

Good lyric on your version Paul !I think having a 2 syllable name sung to 'New York' makes it really stand out.
With so many of today’s stations being basically oldies (oooops dirty word), 'retro'. packages such as Do It Again are still perfect as they are 'of the era' the music they play is from.
There is a quality chasm between those packages and these new style 'AC' (adolescent contemporary?) packages where they sell the same cut 30 times. I've just sat through 2 whole CD's full of these handed out at a recent 'radio festival'.
Gosh some of these 'AC' stations have incredibly repetitive boring jingles, and on one demo the singers were so bad and drowned in echo and fx I could not even make out the station names on half the cuts!
July 30, 2007 at 11:15 pm #31682mumossSorry to drag this back to the the Beacon Turbo Z resing for a minute, but I've been listening to it recently – and whilst the package as a whole is great, I have to say that trying to fit in “West Midlands Satellite Weather” in place of “New York City Weather” was probably inadvisable
September 30, 2009 at 8:46 pm #70303tyty21as for bringing backWJMK, you've got my vote! and to me, jack here in L.A, has to “hit the road!” if you want to bring a station back, either, KKHR, KCBS “oldies 93,” or KODJ. Although, KODJ is in Salt Lake City, It'll be kind of cool to have ODJ back here. And, JMK was tops! Those jingles were the ones which got me back to jingle collecting! great vocals, even though there not from jam, and JMK rocked and will still will if they just Bring it Back! if i was the first blind PD, i'd say, “get out of the way, jack! your services are no longer needed here!”
