Well spotted. It was actually added to the JAM “On The Air” page on our website, but we're using YouTube as the video host to expand the audience.
You have to keep checking On the Air and “Bits and Pieces” every now and then, because we keep finding more fun things to add!

i subscribed on youtube so as not to miss any goodies posted.
ps i know there's not much audio yet on the 'bits and pieces' section on the jam website, but even so i can never remember what i've listened to,or realise what's been recently added after seeing the page has been updated (a little 'new' icon would be very handy next to new audio).
so i unfortunately don't visit that particular page as i always seem to end up listening to stuff i already heard before whilst trying to discover the new audio that's been added.November 28, 2009 at 10:26 pm #71305tyty21same thing i did too!

OK, good idea, but how long should the “new” icon stay up? A week? A month? It all depends on how often someone visits the page, and I assume that varies widely. For what it's worth, there is a small “last updated” line near the bottom so you can tell how recently we've played around with it.
And doesn't this entire thread actually belong in the “Website Updates” section?

if the page was updated every 2 weeks:
a 'new' for new items.
this icon could then be changed to a 'recently added' icon when other new items are added, which now would have the 'new' icon.
so even if you visited once a month, you could see what's been added in that month.just looking at 'bits and pieces' now,i see everything is randomly listed (WYNY,KKOL,US AIR FORCE,WQII,Z93,KRNA,CFLS,WMAL,Report To Murphy,Dream Flights,VH-1,KOOL).
another option could be to list everything chronologically with new items automatically at the top of the page?JAM / PAMS wrote: there is a small “last updated” line near the bottom so you can tell how recently we've played around with it.

it probably does now.
could someone move this to the relevent forum? thanksNovember 29, 2009 at 12:20 am #71310JAM / PAMSMemberjust looking at 'bits and pieces' now,i see everything is randomly listed
Not really. It's in chronological order by production date. So at the moment you have 1979 at the top and 2007 at the bottom, with everything roughly in order in-between. The “on the air” page uses the same system, except there are year headings to make that more clear.
if the page was updated every 2 weeks
…it would mean that I'm retired and have no “real” work to do.
November 29, 2009 at 1:34 am #71311BigdaveGreat to see Bruce having fun on air with such a versatile package, and after Jack hit the road, wasn't it fun to see CBS back on air with Home of The Hits – another great JAM production.
Oh,before we forget, may we wish you,Jon,Mary Lyn and Melissa a belated Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Jinglemad.

Yes it does. Moved.
November 29, 2009 at 5:48 pm #71316mjb1124MemberWhat a great video. 17 years later, Cousin Brucie's words ring truer than ever… we really do need more JAM jingles on the air!
And I'll admit, I've been tempted to call in to WCBS-FM and request jingles…

Thanks!!November 30, 2009 at 12:04 am #71321nostalgieHe has one of the best Jock ID on earth!
November 30, 2009 at 4:00 am #71322mumossThe firing off of the weather jingle at 1:14 sends shivers down my spine.
Great stuff Jon, thanks.

” the firing of that jingle .. sends shivers down my spine” …
A very good point ~ good creative entertaining radio ~ WAS an 'art', and making it was a refined skill.
When I went back briefly to Saga Radio and then Smooth Radio, the fact the computer fires the jingle out of the (automatic) breaks' really was BORING. Firstly the people who adjusted the 'tightness' time left it very loose.
Although it was theoretically possible for the computer to match the tempo of the jingle and next song intro, they did not use this function. In any case, a good presenter can always 'hear' these things and spontaneously create them much better, live during a show. I used to CHANGE the jingle out of the break and hit it in live 'nice and tight'!
This art has just about gone, as the digital studio runs the station AND THE PRESENTERS. And the 'fashion' now is for jingles ONLY out of breaks (or more likely a 'sweeper'). Sequences of talk ending with jingle into music have all but gone.
Cousin Brucie was a legend as somehow in all that frivolous 'radio stuff'… he COMMUNICATED and RELATED to his listeners en masse. In Britain Alan Freeman, Tony Blackburn, Noel Edmonds and a few others did the same, but now it's all but gone….
Anyway, THAT's my two pen-orth (two cents worth!) for today and just to make any true radio fan go 'pea green with envy' here's what my version of that cut sounded like back in 1992:

December 1, 2009 at 5:44 pm #71353GlennaMemberWas it Justin Case that posted all the WCBS-FM DIA jock id's; in one of his montages?
December 23, 2009 at 5:14 pm #71725GrahamCollinsBeen listening to WCBS-FM today at the office and the Do It Again package is being used extensively and sounds as good as ever. The weather bed has been looped to give the jocks more scope to describe appalling conditions !
December 23, 2009 at 10:10 pm #71732AndyWaltersMemberI posted a few CBS FM jingles a few months back off air from a trip to the Big Apple. There's some Do It Again along with some classic WABC resings. Since found out that I recorded a load more than I thought so another montage may be in the pipeline. Anyway, here it is…

The CBS stuff starts 2'40″ in.

December 26, 2009 at 10:55 am #71759barrydavidallanbdaLen..The quality presenters have gone..all we have are people who can use a pc… and I know stations point the finger at the money problems in the world ..But Radio stations fail because the listeners in the uk use radio only as wallpaper and background service..In our day “the Glory years of ILR ” people listened to the radio with the vol turned up high..
Loved the Jingles ..and Cousin Brucie wow.. I remember Cousin Matty joining Radio City in Liverpool ..He loved Cousin Brucie.. And I helped him with his voice over jingles and how to get wall to wall reverb…And his show worked on air because he too used Jam jingles via Radio City in the uk
So sad that style of radio has gone ,most of todays presenters have one fault ..their voices dont sound right on air.. ………but we do have Wifi and some stations around the world are as good as ILR/Radio Nova used to be… but I'm not bitter…yet..but i'm getting there
