I’ve been listening to WCBS FM (New York) at work this week and I was wondering if anyone Stateside can tell me which package(s) they are currently using? I’ve been hearing some great jingles which sound like some classic JAM to these ears!
I would appreciate any helpDecember 28, 2013 at 2:56 pm #92781scotronMemberCould it be from this package perhaps?

Now I will have to track them down……..
December 28, 2013 at 4:58 pm #92783mjb1124MemberThey still use a good amount of their older JAM cuts as well. Most of the cuts from their last composite are still in use, as well as a few from Home of the Hits and Do It Again (the top-of-the-hour and weather cuts come from the latter).

http://www.jingles.com/jam/radioids/demodl-CBSFM.phpOccasionally they’ll even still play a cut from their 80’s Frank Gari Productions custom.
December 28, 2013 at 6:04 pm #92784glenThe JAM website has them listed. Under WCBS COMP.
December 29, 2013 at 11:31 am #92785GrahamCollinsIf you haven’t seen this, check it out. I like Jay a lot, he doesn’t take himself too seriously and sounds great – listen to his voice on the camcorder mic and then off the board – terrific processing:

I still cannot identify the jingle used at 1’55” Doesn’t sound quite like JAM but I will stand corrected – can anyone help ?
Thanks

December 29, 2013 at 2:01 pm #92787GrahamCollinsThanks Mike, spot on. The cut that Jay plays is in this montage at 35″……

Anyone have any decent audio ?
December 29, 2013 at 3:00 pm #92788gameswizardMemberThose Frank Gari WCBS-FM jingles are excellent.

December 29, 2013 at 11:50 pm #92793rakMemberI was listening to WCBS, Tampa’s Q105 and KLUV via the Radio.com app in the car driving up the country the other day – all three of those stations playing Classic JAM and sounding all the better for it. Think the jocks at CBS could do with a bit more reverb, though. Doesn’t sound quite cathedral-like enough for me
Quite a nice mix of music on all those [CBS] stations as well.
Worth getting a free account with something like Tunnelbear to listen from outside the US.
December 31, 2013 at 10:42 pm #92813TomNMemberDoes anyone know if the Gari jingles were used anywhere else besides WCBS-FM and WOGL?
January 1, 2014 at 3:38 pm #92818GrahamCollinsI tried TunnelBear as rak suggested but it didn’t work very well. Even though I was pretending to be in the US, I couldn’t get WCBS or KOST to play…… I got the sponsor’s crap of course, but no actual station output! Also the ‘free’ only extends to 500MB per month, which at the rate it was being used would give me less than an hour of listening.
January 1, 2014 at 10:26 pm #92823rakMemberHave you tried on your phone? May work better than a PC. If you tweet to tunnelbear (link in app), you get 1GB free. That gives 1.5GB – which isn’t bad for a free app. I might sign up for $3 a month, as I have unlimited data on the phone, if I ever go over the allowance (unlikely tbh)
Seems to be the best cheap VPN I’ve seen so far, unless anyone’s found a better one that runs via an Android app?
Were you running the radio.com app? Maybe it’s less reliable on a browser. Not sure how you’d go about installing that app in in the UK on an iPhone, but it’s certainly possible on Android.

January 13, 2014 at 5:40 am #92978mjb1124MemberRegarding WOGL, their current TOH is from the Hyperlink package, demoed for Q101 Chicago in 1992. The rest of their latest composite consists of late 70’s/early 80’s WLS material – mostly from the Outstanding package, but there’s at least one cut each from Music Jam, Dance To The Music, and AM. They still occasionally will use some cuts from their older JAM composites, including cuts from Dimension Two, The Fyre, and various WABC and WLS packages.
By the way, CBS-FM does not have any cuts from Christmas Kit, though I agree that it would be a great fit for them. The JAM Christmas cuts they use come from Holiday Pack, which was originally created for WGY in 1981, but the current demo features the CBS-FM versions. CBS-FM also uses the “Wishing You Happy Holidays” cut from Tony Griffin’s Super Hits package at the appropriate time of the year – it’s the only Griffin cut they still use.
January 21, 2014 at 8:46 am #93008ctmajkaSome of my favorite cuts that the CBS Classic Hits stations are using are from the Flamethrower package.
February 8, 2014 at 2:45 pm #93236Jim DonahueCan anyone point me in the right direction to go about getting some of the JAM material from WCBS FM? I would greatly appreciate any help!
