Those who know me well, know that I am interested in and compete in rallies. So what better way than to combine my two vices (rallying and jingles) by putting together a montage of imaging from the radio station covering the British round of the World Rally Championship… this year they are using cuts from the Kingdom FM package. Unfortunatley the montage was taken from the web stream at 56kbs so the quality is not great.

I tuned in for 3 hours last night to catch the latest rally news (and the imaging :-) ) and instead of a news update every 20 minutes, we were treated to a news bed with no voice over! Ooops – slight boo boo with the playout set up?

      Here it is…..

Fascinating Jonno! TM end up everywhere – I've even heard “The Bee” custom re-sung at Disney Village outside Disneyland Paris, on their internal system.

Thought – if even an RSL (how many days does/did WRGB run around the event, and is it annual thing?) can afford all these high-quality resung jingles, why do so many “big corporate” stations claim poverty and just use cheapo sweepers? (…apart from needing the money to pay their Board Members' bonuses of course):^(

Have spent many days over the years in my Subaru jacket hiding from the rain in the middle of nowhere in Wales. We always had RFM on in the motor but don't remember it sounding this good!

When Colin McRae and Richard Burns died, I'm afraid my interest in rallying died too…..

Thanks for mentioning this and for posting the montage Jonno, wasn`t aware of this station or the jingles, always good to hear resings and quite amusing to hear the news jingle with no new news !

Graham, I might have even rubbed shoulders with you somewhere on a Welsh hillside! I must admit the World Rallying has lost its magic for me. Back in the '90s we used to follow the Lombard RAC/Network Q rally all over the country, sleeping in the car, blagging our way in to access stages where the public couldn't normally get to, and searching out the works teams secret service areas.

I remember one night somewhere up Yorkshire way (I think) we were parked up in a layby on a deserted A road in the middle of nowhere late at night in the pouring rain and tuned in my scanner to get the TV sound frequency to listen to the BBC Top Gear Rally report programme.. and every few minutes the darkeness would be punctuated by the light and sound of rally cars passing us on their way to the overnight halt. Coincidently, I heard “Duel” by Propaganda on the radio this morning when I woke up – which the BBC used as the theme tune for the rally report programmes back in the day.

                But I digress……….

Sounds familiar! I met both CM and RB at service areas – I was a Subaru nut and had two Imprezas. I started with the stately home sunday stages in the early 90's but later as Wales became the base, spent hours walking miles through the forests to get to an isolated spot with no little Hitlers telling you to stand back and blowing their bloody whistles!
