thread” ! (never had that as an error message before!)July 19, 2007 at 1:29 pm #31452Barras
Works fine at the moment Iain…
BTW I`ve just been told by the guys at RadioScape Music (thank you !) that the gentlemen 3rd from the left is Johnny Hooper and the female singer, on the far right is Jackie Dickson.

There are at least 2 videos of this session. they show different cuts being sung. As far as I can see the singers are (l to r) Jim Clancy, Brian Beck (or Dan Alexander?) , Johnny Hooper, Greg Clancy, Abby Anderson (on lead) Kay Sharpe and oif course THE amazing Jackie Dickson!
Some historical backgound…
After 8 complete Alfasound packages between 1980 and 1987, in 1988 we were finally able to buy Amerrican jingles.
We did just one package with TM Century21, it followed on directly from being able to use American jingles for the first time. I had just done the PAMS package for GEM so rather than 'hog' the Dallas trips, I sent David Lloyd (now LBC) to supervise these.
The TM C21 vocal sound on the 2 packages we used for Trent and Leicester was extremely tight, but somehow lacked 'warmth'. The jngles were good, but if anything a little too short, so could not take much in the way of lyrics, and had no fx on.
They were on air for less than a year before because as Radio 1 was then unable to maintain an exclusive with JAM we made the switch to JAM.

That's Brian Beck leading the session, not Dan Alexander.

Oh… and since the video is online… why not the final produced cuts. Here are the two cuts from the video from the digital reference master… encoded at a decent bit rate.

Enjoy!

I thought this was all deja vu!BigDave posted 2 links from master videos of different parts of the same session back in May and we identified the singers then…

It was Alan Fawkes who kindly sent me the videos of the Trent FM, Sound FM and the County Sound session with Jim Clancy modelling a County Sound t-shirt !
Doubt Alan will be reading this, however, just wanted to “publicly” thank Alan for the videos, which he sent to me in the early 90s. I actually sent copies back to Alan a few years later , as he lost the original VHS tapes after a house-move.
The County Sound video lasts just over an hour and whilst the singers are doing their thing, Jackie Dickson manages to knit part of a jumper !!!

Jackie was always knitting during the sessions over the years. It was mocked in a seldom heard “Who Did That Music?” demo years ago. If you haven't heard it… you should. It's interesting, but a little nasty towards the Dallas jingle scene.

I sent a copy of the VHS tape to David Hemsley a few years back and he put those files on his Jingle Ark website.Got some more video here of the Trent FM session. In this clip, you get to see Steve England and friends walking towards the Century 21 building on 14444 Beltwood Parkway in Dallas. You then get to see a couple of resings from Miami`s WAXY – cuts #11 and #12 for Trent FM.
As those Americans say – enjoy !

I did mention earlier about seeing Jim Clancy in a County Sound t-shirt, you also get to see TMCI reception and some County Sound jingles sung, including an “Uncle Albert” cut which I don`t think is on the County Sound dubs kicking about out there in jingle land…

Let me know if you want any more of this uploaded to YouTube ?
