Hi everyone..
Next month, I’ll be heading to Dallas to visit family, friends, etc.. I may have a couple hours free time, and I would love to visit one of the several jingle companies there.. Any suggestions? JAM? TM? Thompson? N2Effect? I know several of you have visited these places, and I’m curious to hear your comments of your trips.. I don’t work in the radio business, just a big fan.. Which do I have the best chance of sitting in on a session? Any comments, positive or negative, would be great!
Thanks!

Its been a while! I sure miss those ABQ airchecks! (Nothing ever did come out of KKOB!).
Give my regards to the ‘Big D’. I know that are from there originally, so if you get chance go and check out Jam. A quick email to Jon Wolfert may help, instead of just turning up unexpected. Not sure about your chances of getting in on a session as it all depends what project they are working on at the time of your visit.
As you know, my plans of a second trip to Dallas turned sour last year (sorry Bro!) so I never got chance to make it.
Have a safe trip!

Tommy:
It really depends what your time constraints are and what is going on the day you’re there. Dallas is a big city and some of the companies might also be easier to get to than others if you have limited time to work with.
Some companies do vocal sessions at a set time every week, and some schedule them on demand. I would recommend you email each of the companies before your trip. Most will welcome you if you just ‘drop in’ — but I think you’ll find it disappointing if there’s nothing going on (though you will probably walk out with a handful of demo CDs if you ask nicely).

From experience, I can confirm that being the best way to go about making eventual visits, and Topcat gave me some valid recommendations when I did Dallas.
You’ll be surprised how quiet it is in these studios unless there’s a session in progress – almost an anticlimax- it’s almost quite sinister! And no-one spends all day listening to jingles like we do. They’re all really friendly “normal” people!!
Hope it goes well.
-SeanMarch 7, 2004 at 2:57 am #23714TommyThank you all for your advice! Looks like I’ll be sending a few e-mails before my trip! Although JAM would be awesome, I’m afraid the odds won’t be good to see a jingle session.. (Plus, I hear it’s in a terrible part of town!) I bet TM and/or N2Effect would be pretty busy.. I don’t know how N2Effect is doing in Europe, but stations using their jingles are popping up all over here in the US..
Thanks again for the help!

Tommy:
I don’t know any stations in my local markets (Hartford/Springfield) that are using N2Effect jingles.
