Just noticed this new addition to the TM website, created for “Totally Awesome ’80s 100.9” in Tulsa. Sounds good. More old-school than the EVO Classic Hits jingles.

Ok. But nothing that grabs me or jumps out and says “TM”!

Plenty of nods to the music of the time (if some almost TOO predictable), decent “clean” vocals apart from the
usual CoL or last note “chord” that’s the same as RW have done on nearly every cut for near on 20 years now.

Why though are there rarely any “different tempo” cuts any more, especially e.g. slow or soft?
Do the software algorythms only “program” medium or fast “songs”; and every cut in a package is nearly
the same tempo around whatever median BPS?

Otherwise very functional and “does what it says on the tin”.

Nice to listen to once – won’t bother downloading them for my collection though.

Iain that’s also my question: why so many medium-up tempo cuts? Maybe it forces on air talent to keep the tempo up. I hear it everywhere on AC and Classic Hits stations: uptempo cuts between slow tempo songs. Without any pace or flow…

Bayern 1 in Bavaria fortunately uses a lot of tempo transitions:

Very melodic and well-produced.

Just shows that different vocal & instrumental textures & tempos CAN be done but still within
an overall package “sound”, without everything sounding like the vocals had been recorded
just once then digitally cut-and-pasted on to 8 different “record sound-alike” backing tracks…
