Very interesting post on Facebook
Greg Clancy on video shows
behind the scenes video of a 2019 vocal session, remastering a classic, as sung for the original client Kiis FM Los Angeles back in 1989. A little inner geek Christmas present from us to you.
?*Sound On’? and enjoy!
In 2020 we’re remixing 5 packages from the archives, we’ve baked the reels, we’ve digitally remastered them and added even more amazing elements. Imagine being a classic hits station playing 80’s and sounding like a CHR from those days. Available soon from TM Studios ?December 21, 2019 at 4:58 pm #56851nleiboDo you have a “link”for the Facebook post?

December 21, 2019 at 10:56 pm #56856ntcarver0MemberCool. Looking forward to January.
December 22, 2019 at 12:56 pm #56863mbMemberLooking forward to hearing these and great to see TM reflect its heritage and the great products from the past – Thier news stuff is great but be proud of the classics you can do too!!!
December 22, 2019 at 1:02 pm #56835IainJohnstonI have the feeling its the TM/C era rather than Tom Merriman one – I could just hear
the “automated” count-in on at least one item? Will be intriqued to find out what they’ve done (and have those “baked reels” been
requested from a well-known “archive service” not a million miles from Boston MA)?December 22, 2019 at 2:11 pm #56793martinlesterMemberAuthorI would have thought the KISS jingles would have been in digital domain for some time but good news they are still keeping the classic jingles going
December 22, 2019 at 8:32 pm #56794mbMemberare we going to try and guess which ones? Big time Radio, Classic Oldies, K-Lite, Maddison Avenue, LAs No 1 hit music station – those must be in contention!
December 23, 2019 at 4:14 pm #56741mjb1124MemberI think they’re all going to be CHR packages from the late ’80s/early ’90s. Although there are also new resings of cuts from Mix 107.3 packages (plus the “TM Shotgun”) for 94.7 The Drive in Washington DC, now programmed by Chris Roth who has posted here before.
Anyway, the video is great – looking forward to the demos!

December 24, 2019 at 6:15 am #56628nleiboRe: WIAD post–one of the “sweepers” says “From the Top of that really tall tower–“–I guess noone told the
“Sweeper voice-guy” that the station is in the DC area–there are NO “tall” buildings –unless 13 stories is your idea of “tall”–sheesh…December 24, 2019 at 8:54 pm #56562Jeffrey T. MasonMemberI’m surprised no other jingle sticklers have pointed out that “Southern California’s KIIS” is NOT from 1989. It was released in 1993, which would put the 30th anniversary in 2023. Even the first package Century 21 did for them (“Hollywood’s KIIS”) wasn’t released until 1990. Although that was technically just a resing of the WPLJ package…which WAS from ’89.
But hey…who’s counting?
January 2, 2020 at 1:01 pm #56172cp2020Chris Stevens was telling me just before Christmas that TM will now do Internet Radio only packages. Minimum order is 6 cuts and they can be from the classic TM packages.
Personally, I’d love to see “LAs #1 Hit Music Stn” and “Steamroller” rebooted for the 20s!
January 2, 2020 at 1:19 pm #56166mbMemberinteresting – would love more info

January 2, 2020 at 3:12 pm #56168IainJohnstonSo not “Personal Cuts” per se, even if say several people tried a joint order to get the minimum six?
PS “classic TM” to me at least is something VERY different from what is more TM/C era as such.
January 2, 2020 at 5:16 pm #56170mbMemberIain I guess TM history falls under several eras. I may very well be tempted – just wish the exchange rate ewas better!!!

I’m not talking obscure 1972 stuff I’m talking pretty mainstream 90’s TM stuff.

I’m not talking obscure 1972 stuff I’m talking pretty mainstream 90’s TM stuff.I’m not sure. I asked Chris if it would be possible to have cuts from “LAs #No 1…”, and got a yes. I would hazard a guess maybe that if the 6 cuts were from similar packages with the same vocalists and could be recorded in the same session, it probably wouldn’t be a problem. Unlike Dragonfly though, they aren’t licensed for ‘on-air’ use, only streaming.

January 6, 2020 at 3:25 pm #56058mjb1124Member^Of course, the new local managegment decided to fire Chris Roth after 3 months of programming. Along with afternoon drive host Albie Dee, who is a DC veteran and sounded great on the station. I’m sure they’ll both bounce back, but that was a very bad move if you ask me.
On a somewhat related note, I noticed that TM no longer seems to be offering the EVO updating service for Classic Hits. Can’t say I was really a fan of those jingles anyway (they were my least favorite of the EVO packages). Looks like the remastered retro packages are their focus for that format now.
January 28, 2020 at 12:22 pm #104604martinlesterMemberAuthorLooks like Steamroller is one of the 5 packages
October 8, 2020 at 6:36 pm #105632mjb1124Memberhttps://tmstudios.com/legends-remastered/
TM’s “Legends Remastered” demos are now up. Includes Southern California’s KIIS, PLJ-The Jingles aka Hollywood’s KIIS, and Steamroller. I’m guessing we can expect at least two more packages to appear, unless Hollywood and PLJ are being counted separately as two of the five.
