Thanks TC!
Love those. Nice to hear something from Atlanta’s history while living here. Would love to hear more. Think I’m gonna have to dive into the big list.
Thanks again.

May 3, 2006 at 6:04 am #20605Jeffrey T. MasonMemberNo offense to TM, but Jon did such a better job with the sonos in all of JAM’s packages for Power 99! The sono quality just isn’t as good at TM, nor is it mixed with the tracks as well. Still an interesting listen!
May 3, 2006 at 3:56 pm #20614topcatI dunno. I think the sonovox’s sound okay for the Dallas Power packages. Here are a few “lifts” from 4 reels of the raw original sonovox sessions for the package “in the clear” (i.e. no reverb, processing and so on). Here’s what they sound like without the spice poured on!

May 4, 2006 at 1:57 am #20623joejinglesTracy, thanks for the samples, but I am confused, as usual.
I always heard that pkg called SUPER STAR RADIO and WNBC CUSTOM 1974.
Additionally there were cuts aired that replaced the “WNBC” with “66NBC”.
I know from other packages Toby did there were name changes along the line; I’m assuming this is one of them?
Thanx,
joe c.May 5, 2006 at 1:15 pm #20644topcatSometimes it’s more fun to answer eMail questions publicly with examples. The following are two examples from WABC’s PAMS Series 25 “The Happy Difference” Sonovox cuts. First we have the full mix of the cut with the Sono driver mixed in…. and then we have the sono driver solo…. since this is what was asked about.

May 8, 2006 at 12:52 pm #20703topcatI have always said (and probably even said it earlier in this thread) that you remember the first version of a package that you heard. In this case, the package is PAMS Series 34 as produced for WFBG Altoona, PA. While this wasn’t one of PAMS most popular packages, it utilized all-male harmonized vocals… and rocked!

Thanks for posting these cuts TC. For anyone else who doesn`t know, there is a package called “Sounds Like” from Kershaw-West. Here`s the start featuring KNBR 68 San Francisco.

May 14, 2006 at 6:50 pm #20788topcatAs many know, PAMS packages were sometimes used for commercial purposes. In Seattle, THE BON MARCHE had PAMS Series 23 “Animagic” sung. Here are some examples.

May 21, 2006 at 5:09 pm #20921topcatIn another thread, I mentioned that I was in the middle of a DAT transfer project. This is the “side project” that fills in when I want a break from other projects. We’ve got two stand-alone computers that are used exclusively for DAT-to-Disc transfers. They utilize digital S/PDIF ports so that we’re going digital-to-digital instead of digital-analog-digital in the transfers. There are also a couple other computers for the Reel-to-Disc projects and so on.
Okay… enough about the technical stuff. A couple of people emailed me and asked what could possibly be on the hundreds of DATs that I’m transferring. I decided to publicly answer with a database listing:
http://www.jingles.org/bigproj.html
At this point, I’m maintaining several different databases for various jingle projects. At some point, I hope to combine them all into one… along with a few hundred more CDs we’re creating. I refer to this as “THE BIG PROJECT”. A little lofty, perhaps… but why not?

May 28, 2006 at 3:53 am #21057topcatWith everyone posting their samplers… I thought we could take a litle time out for a “blast from the past” with a sampler done by KenR almost thirty years ago. This is back before we could just pop-up CoolEdit and have the sucker assembled in a nano-second. Keep that in mind as you listen. So… Without further explaination….

June 25, 2006 at 11:43 pm #21411thtwineWhile we’re mentioning TM’s “Sounds Like”…
I visited Baltimore a few weekends ago and am pleased to report that Orioles flagship station WBAL is incorporating their quick sing line “WBAL and the Orioles” (from the sports cut of Sounds Like) a couple of times into their present-day opener for O’s baseball.

July 25, 2006 at 1:39 pm #21736AdminThank you TC! These sound great. I know how much you have on your plate at the moment, so finding the time to post the latest files is appreciated.
August 7, 2006 at 11:51 pm #21850topcatAs I sit here going through old DATs from long ago… I find that I can kill two birds with one stone:
1. Someone emailed me and asked me if I had examples of cuts in the clear (i.e. acapellas that were laid over tracks); and
2. Another person asked me about a particular production for UBN – “The Home of Good Baking”. Pete Wilson posted versions of PAMS 28 for them over a year ago.
So — To kill both birds, here are acapella lifts from the PAMS multi-track for UBN's Series 28.

August 8, 2006 at 12:16 pm #21854BarrasANOTHER “thank you” to TC !
Thanks for posting these UBN jingles – never heard the acapella versions before. Just to keep the British obsession with “tea-time” alive, I`m listening to this montage with a cup of tea and a biscuit, furthermore, there`s a great website all about UBN (United Biscuits Network) check it out at:

Eventually, we'll probably compile a set of these to sell through Media Preservation Foundation.

TC,
hope you don`t mind me quoting you from July 2005, just wondered if there was still a chance of a Kershaw-West compilation to be released from the Media Preservation Foundation ?
