ANY of the MMI/Standard Sound Clyde packages are on my “Grail List” – in “proper quality” rather than MP3 or “reverse engineered” from demos. Especially the “AM/FM split” era (Clyde FM, Radio Clyde One versions). Although there were many before that I suspect rarely got heard outside their TSA I only have them on old aircheck cassettes).

“Regal Studios…Can’t find much about the company”

I have a cassette aircheck from the late 1990s recorded for me by Mix 106.5 Sydney Australia (2MIX-FM), and they simply said their jingles were done by “Regal Studios”, Dallas. I know there is a “Mix 106.5” SImrek demo out there, and Simrek “usually” promoted TM/MMI/Standard Sound material.

Thanks TC – around the 4:10 mark – I must find that Sydney tape!

Something jarred in my mind – around 3:23 or so, why did did I hear something that sounded a bit like from the JAM Heart London custom from that era?
Usual question no doubt! Who “influenced” Who?!?!

I had a request to post the Red Dragon FM package from 1991, so I’ve uploaded to Soundcloud.

Red Dragon FM audio @1m43s – “Best rock, less talk”
That sounds almost, if not, identical to Red Rose Rock FMs 1990 BRLT ident – same voice over guy (John Wells?), same wording, possibly same SFX aswell.

Yes, we were both linked via the Oyston/EMAP connection. So shared some John Wells Audio.

Corrrr one of those Regal Studios cuts is VERY much like a JAM Heartbeat cut !

I can’t be 100% on this but a lot of the tracks above were also offered by Ben Freedman when I had some cuts sung by him, I almost took an Atlantic 252 cut & a 963 Liberty cut but with the Liberty cut Ben was worried about the authenticity of the soloist compared to the original cut so that wasn’t to be … Anyway I think the ‘deal’ with some of these packages is that BF / Muff and maybe some composers who freelance also for JAM etc worked on these packages and thus all retained rights to sell the jingle resings as their own, that’s how Ben put it too me & I obtained a KIIS FM Los Angeles resing from him and one of the Lite cuts from the Regal Sounds montage … If that makes sense it might also explain how some JAM / Capital FM soundalikes came to exist as the cuts were worked on collaboratively before they appearing with the big companies, potentially credited to the same writers etc …

…and another request. The Touch Radio 1997 package. A custom from Muff Murfin that lasted until Capital Gold South Wales Launched.

                          Here’s the KRO Capital resings…

TM Capital Radio for KRO by MarcWiers

I think some of these cuts were resold by TM as a package IIRC was called “Knockout”. Somewhere, I have a cassette of that demo around here. It was done for a “Q-105” (I’m guessing Tampa Bay). I will need to dig thru the old demo tapes (If they have survived all of the moves…)

There are definitely some similarities with Knockout. Here’s the demo to save you searching Michi.
