Southern California’s KTWV is getting closer to KOST in L.A. with new jingles produced by Grooveworx:
https://grooveworx.com/94-7-wave/
The station evolved from really soft & smooth jazz towards urban AC and hits 5.0 market share 10+ (KOST has 5.2% in the january Nielsen ratings).
With contributions of former KOST programmer Jhani Kaye and on air talents Brian Simmons and Mike Sakelarides the station is a hit in Los Angeles.
Kaye always went to JAM for his KOST cuts. Is he still programming The Wave? Why did he go to Grooveworx? I like the cuts, by the way.
March 10, 2017 at 5:54 pm #101312LenGroatShe has a great voice….. but the way it is written/mixed I could not make out the lyric on the first cut, even played loudly- and both have far too much s t r e t c h e d vocal vibrato…
and “a solo is a solo” …

He hasn’t been involved with The Wave since June 2013.
March 11, 2017 at 1:25 pm #101321MarcMannetjeI agree Len, it’s a craft. These jingles do have emotion though, something not every company is capable of.
Thanks Blubbo, didn’t know that.
March 11, 2017 at 6:50 pm #101322mjb1124MemberI think they fit The Wave well. The singer does have a great voice and emotional delivery as others have said, and they’re consistent with past Wave jingles while still fitting the updated music.
Still trying to figure out who did KRTH’s new jingles. Can’t say I’m a fan of them, but I’m curious.
March 12, 2017 at 2:24 pm #101325nleiboTheir East Coast “brethern” (CBS-FM) went with Reelworld (ugh)–a possibility KRTH also went that “path”?
March 12, 2017 at 3:41 pm #101326rakMemberThey sound good, and if you watch the video for that demo (and the video for Ö3 Austria at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOvZvqIak8w ) – the studio is full of musicians playing proper instruments, guitars with FX pedals – making the jingles sound better than the Producers who use keyboards and drum machines.
March 12, 2017 at 5:31 pm #101327GrahamCollinsMmm the tracks in the video are really good but the vocals didn’t grab me and unless you play non-stop Green Day all day……
I really do like the O3 studios and offices, I think the word is ‘cool’.
March 12, 2017 at 5:51 pm #101328rakMemberThe video was made in 2009, so O3 have probably had at least 1 refit. The curved studio desk does look great. The Grooveworx client gets a week in Los Angeles, too.

Had a listen to Hit Radio 03 this evening – all “Solid Gold” with one very “NOT Grooveworx” sounding
jingle after the news; it was almost JAM-ish or maybe TopFormat or similar Euro-produced?
Some much nicer “Hit Radio” cuts later in the evening, and a power intro or two.Like so many continental stations, strange listening to a presenter delivering in a mixture of
English and the in-country language! VERY “listenable” station though :^)Agree the curved desk looked brill!

The KRTH jingles don’t sound like Reelworld to me – plus, if it was them, I think we would have heard about it by now. Pretty sure it’s not any of the Dallas companies either. Could be GrooveWorx, I suppose. You can hear some of them in the airchecks shared here:
http://bit.ly/2n5ZLHtMarch 21, 2017 at 8:08 pm #101371MarcMannetjeAccording to the latest Nielsen ratings The Wave (4. is now bigger than KOST (4.6).
April 22, 2017 at 7:32 am #101488MarcMannetjeAs KOST seems to loose it’s momentum/stationality with screamy RW jingles, The Wave became #2 (10+) in Los Angeles with a 5. share when you look at the ratings. I can’t remember any AC (not HOT AC) rating so high in the city of angels…
April 22, 2017 at 3:40 pm #101489glenBut the RW factor does not explain the stations above KOST. aka KIIS FM. How does a person explain that. Besides different formats.
April 22, 2017 at 4:54 pm #101490MarcMannetjeGlen I think AC shouldn’t sound screamy – on KOST the cuts really scream next to the on air personalities and songs. That’s all. CHR is much faster and louder, there is a really different feel to it.
Furthermore, JAM did a lot of cuts that were in a lot of ways much more creative. And creativity does not ‘burn out’ as fast as ‘single layer jingles’ RW USA produces.
RW Europe has much different (and in my opinion better) sounding packages by the way.
April 22, 2017 at 5:37 pm #101492glenI don’t think so either. And they shouldn’t in any other format at all!!
