      Personal cuts time.

I distribute 60 or so CD mixes to friends and colleagues each summer and at Christmas. I see it as part of my mission to educate them musically.

So I thought I’d kick-start this year’s summer mix with an all-time favourite JAM jingle from ‘I’d Rather be II’. The original was sung with the LA singers and I fell in love with it as young Bobby Dinan. It may be the intoxicating harmonica solo that makes it so special.

Here’s a montage of 5 of the 9 mixes I’ve received from JAM this morning – the full cut, a version without the harmonica, a long ramp, the short version, and an end acappella.

      Enjoy.

Geoff that’s a classic cut to choose. I can hear that Jon and the team have pulled out all the stops to make YOUR version special in its own way.

The mix of younger singers on this timeless track is SO good!

Sounds better with the Hicklin singers, burned this to death during the summer at ROR FM..

Thanks so much – hadn’t heard that last version. It’s just such a wonderful cut which, of course, I have played around 1000 times since I received it.

Geoff I just realised I can add some relevant audio to this topic!

I bought this cut for GEM-AM either in ’91’ or 92.. it IS a classic – great choice by you.

I’m told Steve England said at the JingleMad day that I had one of the ‘biggest budgets’ of any ILR back in the 80s, 90s (I did not know a the time!) THAT was how I was able to be SO lavish and buy great material like this…..

                          Golden Days indeed………..
