Is it “just me”, but…
As in year in year out, birthdays (imminent!) and Christmas approach, and wives, family etc give me the perennial grumble
of “I don’t know what to get you for (…) but you never like what anyone gives you, and you always ask about the receipts”
and I’d gladly say to them…“I’d REALLY, REALLY LIKE a damn good Personal Cut from (well, these days, its only really JAM…) but I find it difficult
to afford them any more at my age and diminished income, and I’d gladly do without all the (well-meant) stuff anyway
if I could (very politely of course!) ask you instead to contribute a wee bit towards something nice of my choice that I
would really appreciate as part of my long-standing hobby that you’ve all known about for donkey’s years, please! :^) “Except… they wouldn’t have a clue what to do. and STILL don’t quite “understand” our daft but friendly hobby anyway.
So, JMW, as I know you do still have a good lurk around on JingleMad, a “Gift Voucher” or “Christmas Savings Scheme”
“account” in some simple form to help build-up a bit of “credit” towards a next much-wanted Personal Cut or two would
be VERY much appreciated by many Collectors here I’m sure :^)Meanwhile, out in the real world, “they” have just whacked up our domestic gas/leccy bill by £30 a month :^[
September 20, 2017 at 8:10 pm #102024scotronMemberI would be up for sending a contribution to the IJ Jingle fund. What a great idea for a birthday gift. Iain, you have just reminded me that you sent me a Dropbox jingle selection. Ooops. forgot about that. If it is still there, will check it out.
September 20, 2017 at 8:25 pm #102025IainJohnstonRon, as much as my “nudge” for the “jingle gift voucher” approach is really just tongue-in-cheek, I’m sure it
would make having Personal Cuts a bit easier for some Collectors who’ve never managed to have/afford one :^)By example, I know of one VERY long-standing collector who finally managed to get a couple last year in a combo
order, and they sound damn good too!PS – the d/box files for you are still extant.
