The LX Series 3 demo is featured on the JAM Oldies Volume 1 CD as “LX Gold”. I wondered why that package wasn’t listed on JAM’s online package index. The demo featured on the JAM CD can be downloaded from Top Format’s website http://shop.topformat.com/audio/lxgold.mp3

As the demo states, it’s for smaller market stations with limited budgets. Cut lengths are specifically “satellite friendly.” It definitely is NOT the JAM vocal arrangement. Sounds like Ken R’s vocalists. Does anyone know the history of The LX Series?
Enjoy another lost jingle hit…or FIVE!

LX Series 5 (CHR): http://www.jeffreyt.com/audio/LX-5.mp3The Singers are from KenR and as he is no longer in the Jingle Business
this is why they are not on the JAM websiteLX stood for Less eXpensive
Most of the cuts did turn up on KenR’s Demo’s under a diffrent Name I think I even got one for myself!
At the time when JAM was charging Stations $250 a Cut ,the LX Cuts were about $50,this was long before the days of studio dragonfly so at the time offered a good deal for the smaller stations

Yes… I do. I was around when the project was being put together. The idea was for JAM to have a “budget line” (Less Expensive) of jingles available to the public.
Selected Alfa tracks were pulled and the demos (which you have) created. The idea was that cuts could be cranked out in Toledo for JAM (or non-JAM) clients who didn’t want to foot the tab, nor wait in the lengthy queue to have their cuts sung. However, it really wasn’t marketed by JAM… and therefore had a limited run.
Frankly, I’m surprised there are any demos of this stuff floating around at all.

First of all, thanks for posting the LX stuff Jeffro, I had never heard these re-sings before…
As mb mentioned earlier, some of the LX cuts (LX 5) were originally sung in England for TFM Cleveland UK. A lot of enthusiasts on this side of the pond will have heard the TFM cuts before in a montage from Steve England, from the Alfasound collector`s tapes, however, here they are for you Mr Mason.

Hi TC
I understand LX jingles were produced in 1991
Most Stations Today expect a 2 weeks Turn around but
What was the Turn arround for a syndicated Package then ?

There tended to be a backlog at points in time getting product out the doors in Dallas. In the case of KenR’s group, sessions were done on a weekly basis, singing what needed to be done and having it mixed and out the door the next day The Dallas companies… and I do generalize… tended to take a little longer to get the stuff sung, mixed and out the door. Also… the money involved was another incentive for stations to purchase the packages.
1991 sounds about right, as I made DAT copies of the master LX demos and backing tracks when I was out at KenR’s in Toledo. I was really out there pre-marriage… which would be 1988-96. I will have to go find them. As I recall, they are are on the DATs with the original ProPack #1… which was mastered on DAT, but sent to stations on reel-to-reel in those days. My how times have changed.

Jeffro – thanks ever so much for posting these.
Fantastic to hear. I remember talk of Alfasound packages being made available to the US market when Alfa and JAM hooked up… but I never heard any examples of stations buying them so presumed it had never happened.
Great to hear these cuts again – especially seeing as I’m only used to the TFM, Great North Radio, FOX FM etc versions.
Cheers!
