OK, not directly jingle-related, but KGO San Francisco another legendary early-era AM station now at risk from another US broadcasting conglomerate itself so deeply in debt that it can never actually even repay the debt interest never mind the megabucks borrowed to buy 800-odd stations since the 1996 Act.

A lesson for those in the UK that think the adoption of the “American model” over the past few years here is such a wonderful thing…

america has done many wonderful things in broadcasting. this stinking mess, however, was completely political.
should there be “public” or public supported radio? no! it serves too few people.
should there be no limits on ownership? another no. that also serves too few.

a limit of (for the u.s.) 25 stations in each niche. meaning up to 25 am, 25 fm, and 25tv. plus, no group owner may have more than 1 from each service per market, is plenty.

imagine? once again creative programming! to say nothing of the rest of the package…..again a broadcast service thats not cookie-cutter coast to coast.

iheart/clear channel, viacom/cbs, and the rest of these raiders have ruined media with the help of the best political worms money can buy

That had great jingles over years.
I looked at their rating a couple of days before I knew anything about it, and they only scored a 1.0.

In New York WABC their rating are not exactly stellar either

              hard for you to believe?
              tune them in and listen.

              abc owned nyc.

              then came disney…….
and the dump of the o&o’s. bankruptcy. and a less than bright new management team……

i cant wait for the spreadsheet to show them how much they can ‘save’ if they turn off the transmitter

                This sounds like a joke but it’s suppose to be;
When it comes to Disney and radio it’s a BAD Mickey Mouse joke.

                  indeed.
but something that was well done (i suspect the brainchild of the guys at s.m.n-dallas) was the ‘radio disney’ thing for teenyboppers.
great air tallent, good production elements & jingles, an on target playlist, and very loyal listener base.
a home run. a solid offering, that ONLY disney could miss the boat with.
i guess the nyc 1560? 1580? the old wqxr, is now all jesus all the time. bostons 1260 is now defunct, ditto across the country. which leaves the mouse with espn radio to trash. as they will.
follow the reports on sumner redstone (the ceo, biggest cheese at viacom). then remember, this coote is in charge of cbs/etal.
