Something that Collectors under the age of 40 might not have encountered before is the “Cruisin'” series of re-created/synthesised USA radio “airchecks” from the late 1950’s through 1970, which was a tape project of putting together the typical sound of USA Top 40 radio in each of the years.
The tapes and vinyl disks may be long gone, but the audio can be heard and MP3-downloaded from here…
https://archive.org/details/Cruisin-AHistoryOfRockNRollRadioIt was hearing the 1962 KLIF 1190 Dallas “aircheck” many, many years ago that was one of my first “encounters” with jingles that I recognised but with different station vocals on the same tracks – PAMS Series 18 as I knew from UK 1960s offshore Radio London but with Dallas’ KLIF Eleven Ninety (in sonovox of course…) :^)
September 11, 2016 at 8:57 pm #100627martinlesterMemberI remember this set of LP’s at the time I thought that KLIF was ripping off the Radio London Jingles
A few years later when in New York I purchased the complete set on CD
September 11, 2016 at 10:23 pm #100628bobgreenradioMemberyes a really great set. the bulk of them were produced in the late 1960’s. i remember getting samples sent to us in 1968ish.
September 12, 2016 at 12:01 am #100629LenGroatThat’s a good tip for younger Jinglemadders Iain !
I had many of the albums ‘back then’ and still have a few CD’s somewhere – my personal favourite was Dr. Don Rose , WQXI, Atlanta – great VOICE, humourous, and superb custom jinges – some of those below are on the Cruisin’ !

September 12, 2016 at 3:20 am #100630tyty21i’m one of those “under 40” jingle madders, and I can appreciate the old-school jingles from way back when!
September 12, 2016 at 11:46 am #100632Tracy CarmanMemberWhile you can’t hear the audio unless you subscribe, the history of the late Ron Jacob’s Crusin’ series (produced in 1971) is documented at http://reelradio.com/rj/cruisin/cruisin_demo.html#cruisin_demo
It should be noted that as a recreation project, PAMS resings were done for the project instead of using the original aired jingles. The resings, in some cases, didn’t include original lyrics nor logos thereby making them historically inaccurate.
September 12, 2016 at 7:19 pm #100633bobgreenradioMemberso the resings were done by freedman?
and what about the crc cuts? i remember the wmex disk used crc’sSeptember 12, 2016 at 7:48 pm #100634Tracy CarmanMemberso the resings were done by freedman?

September 14, 2016 at 3:32 am #100643Tracy CarmanMemberJust because… here’s an A/B comparison of the original sing for WKBW’s Series 15 (Living Radio) Billboard Cut produced in 1960 and the 1971 resing for the Crusin’ series:
September 14, 2016 at 9:11 am #100644IainJohnstonTC – are the KLIF PAMS 18 “re-sings” for Crusin’ “out there” anywhere in-the-clear by any chance?

Not that I’m aware of, Iain.
September 17, 2016 at 5:00 am #100655jinglejoeMemberThe WMCA B Mitchell Reed disc used Anita Kerr jingles, which WMCA had used.
September 18, 2016 at 11:37 am #100659nleiboThere was only ONE jingle on the WMCA LP–a slow “WMCA New York”–there were some original “Good Guys” songs, as well.

While this is a great set
I do not understand why the just did not licence the original cuts
Instead of doing re sings

If I had to speculate, I’d guess that it was easier to resing the cuts than to look for the original reference reels. I really don’t know for sure. Mr. W…. any input on this?
September 23, 2016 at 3:36 am #100696jinglejoeMemberDespite the WMCA LP having only ONE Kerr jingle, the point of the matter is it was NOT recreated, and NOT a PAMS cut.
