most recently this year, Cox media had flipped KONO from a sports format back to music, this time, acting as a counterpart to KONO-FM. while the FM side plays hits of the 70’s and 80’s, (the mainstream classic hits direction,) KONO-AM is playing oldies of the 60’s and 70’s. They even have their jingles from their top 40 days to match their sound! Take a listen to this montage I made, you’ll see! excuse the video quality if any.

i was wondering that same thing as well! when they did their daily domain over at radio insight, that was one of their stories. I was wondering, are they gonna resing a package, or are they gonna go classic. or both. Either way, they went the dallas route, and it sounds amazing! you never know, this station just started a while ago, so maybe further down the line, they’ll do like WAKY did, and is still doing, and resinging a few packages. even doing modern versions of classic packages.
April 25, 2017 at 7:06 am #101503nleiboKudos to “KONO” & to JMW (JAM/PAMS)!!!…
April 25, 2017 at 3:40 pm #101504PKMemberSadly and dissappointingly both KONO 101 FM and 86 KONO AM are blocked in the UK and Europe. A friend of mine in France has tried to Log On and was blocked from listening too. I used to listen to KONO 101 and it had and maybe still has some great Radioscape Jingles from Johnny Hooper!

April 25, 2017 at 7:07 pm #101506LenGroatWhat a great mix of their original PAMS jingles with the ‘Thunder Productions’ ones from 1973/4 (?) – part of William B. Tanner which briefly had some ex PAMS singers and writers I believe, such as Chris Kershaw? I’m sure TC knows the details.
I was sent Thunder Producitons demos when I ordered the PAMS cuts for Metro in ’74 and ’75 – they were HOT – the namecheck (for Michael James Lucas on the demo) is on the aircheck but without any vocal -a cut I’ve always remembered!

April 26, 2017 at 2:13 am #101509logodaveMemberThanks tyty for that montage. The Super O from Thunder is one of my all time
favorites. I hear Dan, Chris and Jackie in that group. Awesome stuff. -
