I have just been given an eighty minute CD montage of jingles and very good listening it is. Its especially useful if you are driving long distances!
There are jingles from TM Communications Inc, Century 21/TM Century, JAM, PAMS/CPMG right the way to David Arnold, Alfasound, Standard Sound and LBS. The stations featured go from Z-100 to the Energy RSL’s in Wakefield. There is a also lot of rare material from the erstwhile and legendary TM Communications Inc.
I’m not sure whether the creator of this montage will let people have it yet, I will keep you posted.
Has anyone else ventured (or had the time!) towards filling a CD full of jingles?
April 30, 2003 at 4:06 pm #12487DavidHemsleyCD montages are very common these day, with the advent of cheap PC based editors.
The latest one I did was my 25 year anniversary montage from last year, but I’ve got a sixty minute one on a 10″ reel that I did a few years back. Cut and splice, now that’s jingle dedication !!
April 30, 2003 at 6:49 pm #12490danjamesukOooh, cut & splice @ 15ips… I remember those days! 45 degree cut for speech, 90 degrees for music! Much fun had in the studio producing some old sweepers for Radio Leeds back in the early 90s using that method… oh, and making radio tuning FX with one hand on a battered old tranny (radio, not transvestite) and the other hand on the pan pot! The great thing was – you were FORCED to be as creative as possible using limited resources. Despite the fact that I do love PC-based editing, it can do too much for you – chinagraph, splicing tape and razor blades used to force every last drop of creativity out of you!
May 1, 2003 at 1:32 am #12491FredI remember having various montages from a big collector in the north east and they used to fill a c90 cassette up! I still have some of them here also.
I once did a A-Z of jingles I had, playing a station begining with A, then B etc etc. It started with Aire FM and ended with viking I think. That took about 25 mins up!
Now we actually have the equipment to do what could be an endless one, I don’t have the time.. or energy!

May 1, 2003 at 9:10 am #12493LankesterHi guys,
Some comments from West Australia.
The weather is great here(just to make you jalouse)
For the last two years I make my (MP3) cd’s and on a good quality(192K/bits) you can have about 12 to 14 hours of jingles!
Select shuffle on your CD and you jingle all the way!
I have all the jingles and if known Companies listed on the CD insert.
Just an idea for Admin, could we make CD’s available for menbers???
Together we should have a enormous amount of jingles and tunes.
Ps if anyone wants jingles (free of any charge) let me know.
Well it is time for a beer now.
See you all!

KenR, Fred Vobbe, Michael Neff, Ron Harris and others used to do samplers back in the seventies.
I produced two thirty minute PAMS samplers back in 1998. They are available through KenR.Com… or listenable (in Mono) at http://www.reelradio.com/mpf/index.html#tcpams98a if you’re interested in hearing them. The sampler was produced on a multi-track and then “tweeked” with Cool Edit ’96.
I am finally finishing up a sampler I started of materials owned by TM Century, Inc. It is mainly cuts from TM and Pepper/Tanner. Ultimately it will run over an hour. To hear a sample of this sampler, go to http://www.reelradio.com/mpf/millenium1.html
Thank you.

I know that montages aren’t new…I created my own montages in the 1980’s using a wondering editing tool known as a ‘twin-deck’ tape recorder! I still have one from somewhere, though I never went over 45 minutes of a standard cassette!
My friend who did edited it all together, wanted to create a montage of great jingles from differing eras. Included in the montage is a progress of TM Communications from the seventies upto the merger with Century 21 and Merriman Patrick Turner (MPT). For a lot of collectors in the UK, a lot of TM material has never been released, so hearing it is good to say the least.
So fairplay to everyone who have created montages so far!
May 3, 2003 at 2:35 pm #12506bigdave1I’ve done about 3 altogether …
All about 45 mins in length as well so they can fit on one side of a C90 .
Now I’ve got Cool Edit , all things become possible !
May 3, 2003 at 3:03 pm #12507DevawebMemberA well-known jingle collector from the North East sent me a CD recently with two montages on, each around 25 minutes long. They were fantastic! Great singalong material for the car!
It included great stuff from Jam and TM/C21, older material from the UK and US companies, and more up-to-date stuff from Vibe, Bespoke, Reelworld and IQ Beats. Even a couple of Devaweb items got on there which was nice!
It was superb; much more fun than listening to 20 mixes of the same jingle with 10″ gaps in between!
Regards,
Chris
May 19, 2003 at 1:49 pm #12539PartyperI always bring my best jingles, airchecks and sweeperpackages on different tapes when I’m driving.
My girlfriend is not so satisfied listening to a full 90 minutes jingletape with all the good grooves from Reelworld, Jam, TM century, N2effect and Vibe.By the way, thanks for a great site!!!

October 7, 2003 at 12:18 pm #12730InfernoNice to know other collectors have done jingle mixes! I used to do the odd mix in the early 90’s and from 1996 i did one every year! Naming them ID96, ID97, etc. However i haven’t done one for three years and i’m currently waiting for jingles to be sent to me so i can carry on doing my ID series. I used to love doing them although it does take a while to mix them but well worth it when it’s done!
October 9, 2003 at 6:25 pm #12731bigdave1Jingle Mixdown 2 is already being made (if you got the first one , you’ll know exactly what I mean) ….
21 mins already in the can ..what do you reckon ? Another 24 ? Or another 39 ?
Let me know …..and also any old favourites that I could include (if I’ve got them!)
