I was watching an episode of the TV show “Futurama” on DVD the other day, and there was a scene where they did this cutaway from a New York broadcast tower to a long zoom shot of the galaxy, finishing off on a shot of a planet far away. As I was watching this, the one thing that came to my mind immediately was that TOH ID from the “Turbo Z” package. So I decided to have a little fun with the jingle and the DVD.

What I did was set up the “Futurama” DVD to the exact point where the cutaway started, then I set up a CD I had the “Turbo Z” demo to the Cut 10, pushed play on both; and sure enough, perfect syncronization! If you don’t believe me, I’d suggest giving this a try. Here’s how this Works:

      1. Have a copy of “Turbo Z” on CD

      2. Have a copy of the “Futurama” episode entitled “When Aliens Attack” either on DVD, or taped off of TV (For the DVD Savy, it’s disc 3 of Season 1)

      3. Fast forward the DVD/VHS to the part where Fry knocks out the FOX network by spilling a beer on the control panel and says “…Like anybody cares” and pause it as soon as you see a shot of a broadcast tower.

      4. Cue up the “Turbo Z” demo to cut 10 and pause it just before the jingle actually starts.

      5. For full effect, mute the volume on your TV.

      6. (Tricky Part) Unpause both at the same time, and watch the fur fly.

It’s really cool if you time it just right. I’d like to think of it as something that’s as close as you’re gonna get to seeing a visual version of the famed ID. Try it with other ID’s if you dare, but this particular cut is the best way to do it, it’ll blow you away.

That’s really cool – I’ve just downloaded that ep and the jingle with it works a treat!
