If you have the 20 Years of JAM compilation, you’ll remember a cut about 4.33 in on the 20 years in 20 minutes medley . Known to all as the “Still The One” cut , it remains one of my favourite JAM cuts , as well as a couple of regular visitors here .
Although discussed previously , I’ve often asked the question “Was It Part Of A Package?” , so I emailed Jon Wolfert to ask. To give Jon his credit, he got back to me within 24 hours .
Here’s the response which I thought I’d share with you …
Q/ The “Still The One” campaign for the ABC network – was this ever available as a package ?
No, this was strictly a custom project. “Still the One” is an actual song, and ABC-TV had to pay a lot of money for the rights to use it. That license was only for the network and its affiliates and only valid for a limited time, so it’s not something JAM can use in any other way.
Q/ Would the cuts ever be available for resing?
Probably not. We’ve included a cut or two occasionally as part of montages, but there’s no point putting it out for syndication since no one can buy it.
So, bang goes my chance of having it resung ! (and Hirsty-‘cos it’s one of his top 10 cuts as well!) . The e-mail goes on to mention his contribution to the Radio 4 documentary , and how (although he thinks it may be cut to pieces) he looks forward to hearing the finished product. He also passes on his regards to all of us for the Xmas period and thanks us all for our continued interest in JAM.
It’s only right to thank Jon here for giving us an answer to something I’m sure many people have wondered about for a while…

September 14, 2007 at 11:20 am #32883MarcMannetjeWhat a beautiful dramatic musical product. Do I understand it cannot be syndicated worldwide? What's the use for ABC to have the rights in let's say Europe?
September 14, 2007 at 6:47 pm #32890BigdaveJon will probably confirm it for me,but is that Peyton Parks doing his Ray Charles impression?
