After months of downloading some great stuff from the JingleMad Forums, thought it was about time I pulled my finger out and posted up some stuff myself.
I’m what you’d class as an “amateur collector” – ie never spent a fortune on CDs, never really had any mates who could get the original masters from the cupboard of a Station PC’s office during a crafty moment on an overnight shift etc! The bulk of my stuff from when I started collecting in the early 90’s is therefore all just “taped off the radio” stuff so the audio quality’s not great but the memories live on regardless.
So, for some on here with a JAM CD collection stretching to the roof or some good contacts at a station somewhere, you may well have studio-quality versions of some of my postings already in your collection. (Feel free to post them up if that’s the case!) However, for the “amateurs” like me, hopefully these will make good additions to your collections!
Anyway, waffle over – on with the jingles!
First uploads are a couple of Steve Wright montages circa 1990-93, featuring a mixture stuff from JAM, AJ and in-house (ie Mikey Woolmans & Richard Easter before he took to writing dodgy sciprts for the likes of Stars in their Eyes!)

There’s also a cut used in the summer – no idea of the producer on this one…
May 31, 2004 at 2:33 am #13465JingleMadMemberThanks for posting theses jingles Steve – they maybe off-air but still great to listen to.
There was a rumour circulating a couple of years ago that AJ Productions were compiling a CD for collectors – featuring all the Steve Wright jingles from his Radio 1 afternoon show. Wonder what became of this – anyone got any more info ?

Don’t hold your breath waiting for this CD!If Andrew White ever visits this forum, perhaps he’ll provide an insight on AJ’s reasonning . . . . . but AJ told me that he thought he’d probably just end up selling 1 copy and then find the contents all over the internet in minutes, thus not making any money.

2 Years on and I am still waiting !

I’m sure any jingle collector would rather have CD rather than a compressed MP3
I’m quite surprised that there is 1 jingle that is still used today when he is on Radio 2 – the “doo doo da da … steve wright in the afternoon” one. Does he ever change his jingles? 😯
If anybody does have good quality copies of current and past jingles/beds then do feel free to post them up….
I read somewhere that Steve Wright used to play something before the top of the hour which was about 4mins long. Does anyone know what it was?

“its the show with exitement and plenty of fun its all on radio 1 -steve wright in the afternoon -my favourite station RADIO 1 love it to death “

Well, having listened to his show recently on Radio Two, it’s clear that he’s not bothered to change the format in anyway from what he was doing 14 years ago on Radio One – so why bother changing the jingles!!
Regarding the beds, I’ve got a few from around the same era as these jingles kicking around on CD. I’ll try and get them uploaded very soon.
May 31, 2004 at 12:17 pm #13473thebeebTaking of Steve Wright jingles … why does he have a “all material is copyright” jingle at the end of his show?
Far as I know, no other DJ/presenter has this.
Has he always had it?
June 4, 2004 at 12:22 am #13515ttesteveAs promised, Steve Wright beds are now available in a separate post:

He’s certainly used it since the late 80’s. I guess back then, his show was actually original (well, to those who hadn’t heard of Rick Dees anyway!) so it was probably deemed worthwhile to have the copyright message at the end of the show at the time and it’s just stuck as an audio signature ever since.
I may have imagined it but I’m sure I’ve heard the Chris Moyles brekkie show end with a similar message over the end of the song Music4 did for him. This could be either for genuine copyright reasons or just to generally take the p*ss out of Mr Wright!

All of the Music 4 (and before that, Vibe) demos have that copyright message at the end. In fact, they’ve only just recently relaxed their copyright watermarking – not so long ago, all the demos had that irritating woman saying “All music is copyright 2004 Vibe Music and Audio Imaging, all rights reserved” every bloody 10 seconds!
June 4, 2004 at 4:02 pm #13518ttesteveI’d meant the the end of the Chris Moyles show on-air finishes with him using the Music4 song but he has his own liner over it saying the the content of his show is copyrighted.
I know what you mean though about the OTT copyright messages on the Music4 stuff!

Indeed .. all material is copywright! 😆
This is the current copyright jingle as recorded off Radio 2 earlier.

Don’t tell me he plays that 5 minute song every day at the end of the show ?! 😯

Think you’re imaging that one then – I’ve never heard him do that and (sadly) I think I’ve missed only a couple of shows since they began. It’s the bed to pips to Jo Whiley.
June 4, 2004 at 11:02 pm #13522ttesteveI’ve only heard the end of the Moyles show a couple of times but he definitely played the back end of the Music 4 song up to the pips. Not the whole five minutes but certainly the last chorus of the repeated “Chris Moyles Show” bit followed by the big “National Raddioo Oooooonnnneeee” finish!
I remember thinking at the time “at least he’s getting his moneys-worth out of it rather than only ever using it the once on his first show!
In fact, just listened back over the end of today’s show on the BBC site and he used the sing-out today.

Every day he plays an outro jingle which is a bed of varying lengths up until the final sing – the vocals hit the pips exactly. Although the vocals sound similar to the close of the song, it is an outro jingle and not the song. The only time he played the song was on the first day.
As for the copyright message, I’m not sure why you brought that up to be honest! He’s never used a copyright message either.
