Hi folks,
Looks like Steve England has got a different looking website (like Steve's new logo!) and S2Blue has more promised jingle packages “coming soon” but sadly no new audio to listen to on either website.
August 10, 2007 at 7:55 am #31875Good Time OldieI must say I quite like the new look website for Steve E. Nice to see the love Sarah on the front as well, but where's a picture of Steve Butler, surely he's not that UGLY (soz Steve lol)
I too look forward to hearing more packages online, but I guess Steve has to give the stations a few month's grace before sharing their wares with the great unwashed.

In saying that mate, there have been the BBC Essex, Cumbria, Suffolk and Lakeland Radio packages which have been “Coming Soon” for months so I think were about due.
Apart from BBC Essex, I'm looking forward to the new BBC Radio Lancashire package. The bits I heard had some very good close harmony vocals on there. I know some collectors on this site, and quite rightly so too, critisise S2Blue for ropy vocals at times. Radio Nottingham and Trax FM come to mind, but that does not mean that they can't sing. I've been thinking about this, scary that, and I think that when they do the vocals, they should stick to the omne note and not move up or down a note. I'm sure it's that what makes them sound out of tune. A example of this was used on BBC Radio 2's Harmony programme. S2Blue were doing a resing for Lakeland Radio. All sounded good until they the two singers went a note up and then it sounded not as good…IMO.
Do they still use 7 people to sing when requested or just use the two/three singers?
Oh they need a good bass vocalist like JAM, TM, Top Format uses too The Compass FM JAM Coast resings from a few years ago were good but sadly lacked the vocal depth. If your resinging Jon Wolferts hardworked backing tracks IMO the vocals have got to be right and that in turn keeps Jon happy.
August 10, 2007 at 3:25 pm #31883gameswizardMemberi've just had a listen to the stuff on steve website.
where do they get these singers? the british vocals grate on the ear drum as you listen.
i bet US stations dont fork out for these british jingles-unless of course it's a radio station for deaf people.
i also cant believe a company like JAM would have UK vocals resung on some of there earlier great packages.if i was JAM i wouldnt wanna be associated with dreadful UK vocals on my music tracks.August 12, 2007 at 2:20 pm #31927simon_t123MemberI like alot of S2Blues recent BBC Local Radio work, the Essex package sounds great. Cornwalls tracks were quite rich musically & the vocals were good too. I think they have a distinctive sound for sure, one thats been around for quite a while mind, and the business keeps coming ! You look at Jingle prices today for full time stations, Studio Dragonfly is very cost effective, so it cant always be a budget thing, Steves Connected resings would be about £117 inc vat, not sure about their normal prices but when you compare to the price per cut from Dragonfly or some other companies its gotta be the same ?
So its more about choice I guess …
August 12, 2007 at 6:26 pm #31940Dan BI've found Pro Audio Imaging – http://www.proaudioimaging.co.uk to be the best for jingles and voice overs. Great energy and presence. They've done work for BBC too and loads of community stations (lots of work there!). Check it out! Cheers, Dan
August 12, 2007 at 6:56 pm #31941mbMemberAnd with packages from JUST £10 those BBC and commercial stations must be clammering for thier work.
But the client list is a bit hazy!!!! The above post looks a little like a veiled advert.August 12, 2007 at 8:10 pm #31943IainJohnstonMemberLOL! I bet you're right Michael…!
“Domain name: proaudioimaging.co.uk
Registrant: MORRIS DAN (Dan BEAL on Jinglemad registry)
Registrant type: UK Individual
Registrant's address:
The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted
to have their address omitted from the WHOIS service.”A “non-trading individual”…who's… “trading”!
I wouldn't mind all these “jingle companies” plying
their wares on JM, as long as they genuinely bought
advertising space on the Site – it would help JM keep
going! (Can't be all that expensive, can it, Roy? )(The same post is on the “Official Zone…” thread too!)
