I miss the station very much. It’s what I used to listen to at night when I was working.

Iain: yes the ‘Prof’ version for SkyLab radio reminded me how much I liked it!

I sent the audio as soon as I had it to one of the longest term jingle anoraks in the UK who reminded me, “I remember playing you the Radio 2 version of the Magic Music cut back in 1987 – and you loved it then!” I couldn’t get it then – I could now.

We didn’t do a ‘with bells’ version – we went in the opposite direction and have a solo version, thanks to Jon. It has less ‘pretty bits/heavenly choir’ and a soloist doing a NON Christmas lyric (remember I’m a poor pensioner so have to s t r e t c h my orders to make the most of every cut)

Geoff – glad you like it – we have very similar tastes in JAM !

Len…it’s nice hearing the cut sung/produced in a different way. I ordered the cut with a solo vocal in mind, same as Radio 2 and the WMGK. Very nice resing…I like it a lot.

Thanks for the messages about Skylab Radio, I won’t hijack Len’s thread so I’ll keep this brief. Needless to say if it was upto me, Skylab Radio would be webstreaming right now…but personal circumstances do not make this possible at this time. However I would like to bring it back sooner, rather than later…that is what I want and the theme from the constant messages from listeners. The listenership to Skylab was phenomenal and far exceeded my expectations…but that was never an issue. Anyway…if anyone wants to continue this chat…feel free to drop me a message.

Thanks Prof! I understand what you mean by ‘personal circumstances’ and will write a personal note. We actually have another (former) SkyLab/ Radio 2 jingle in our NEXT pacakge as well!

Meanwhile let me make my last post on our ‘2015’ topic with some of the submixes of the ‘Christmas cut’ to show how we’ll be using it from the Spring onwards!

This is minus pianio/string intro – turns it into a 70s ‘Joni Mitchell style’ cut – perfect to match with for Bread, CSN&Y , England Dan, America type songs…

Yes – and there was a specific ‘Gentle on your mind’ stickers and ads – it was after I left. It proved to be going in the wrong (musical) direction – softer.

I also recall it was sung in a very d r a w n o u t way: and it became ‘Gentle on your Miiinnnnnnn”

I don’t have any ‘favourites’ from the year as I spent so long choosing each cut they are ALL favourites! Most cuts were from JAM, then PAMS + of course Sean at iJingles/TM did some superb material including our Synchronism cut which we use as a TOTH on weekends when we don’t have news.

…thanks to ALL the folks in Dallas…. I’m delighted our station has kept ‘real’ JINGLES on UK radio. The cart machines have gone – but the jingles live on…
