At last I can reveal our latest dj (thanks to Radio Today for the story)

Many of our team first worked with her back in 1992 and 21 years later she’s back!

And yes she does of course have a JAM re-sing for her show ~ I’ll post it nearer 3rd January

That makes it even more of a Happy New 2014 Year!

            Jenni Costello… who?

I’ve never heard or listened to her… probably because, according to this schedule below, she was on very early in the mornings between September 1990 – April 1992.

Games Wizard: Can I politely suggest I think you are missing the point.

For any woman to get into daytime shows on what was a male-dominated National station back in 1990 was an amazing achievement. Along with Jackie Brambles and Liz Kershaw, Jenni ‘led the way’ back then. The station was rarely allowing its female presenters into ‘major’ listening hours, and I think 19 months on Radio 1 was a great achievement for Jenni, and she went on to co-host the Trent FM breakfast show and work on various other stations.

Only in 2013 has the BBC addressed what some call ‘the gender mis-balance’ on its national and local stations.

I’m sure you love JAM jingles so I’ll get Jenni’s Z100 namecheck for this topic!

              Seasons Greetings ~ Len

                Ditto.

Looking forward to hearing it Len.

Best of luck to Jenni. Initially, I thought out of the box,and thought it could have been Steve Merike, who was also ex Radio 1… and on GEM at it’s birth too :)

I can remember her from her days on 1FM, plus her days on breakfast at Trent with Andy Miller (one of the voices of my teenage years listening on the 96.5 Mansfield transmitter, which came through loud and clear in South Sheffield).
