Unless their format is gonna change drastically next week I can’t see his “personality” coming over much from next monday?!?
😆My Guess is that the Breakfast show with Foxy and Drive Time with Holmes will become more “personality” with the more music continuing with the rest of the day
Magic needs to do something as its market share has gone down from 6.00 to 5.1 (Rajar Figures)
Also my original remarks about smooth lack of promotion and tied out on air sound with regards to its jingles and liners well under the JAZZ FM banner they had 2.8 of The London Market share they now have 1.90!

September 24, 2005 at 1:06 am #25165scarySurely there aren’t any proper figures for Smooth yet…. there hasn’t been a full 3 months (a RAJAR quarter) since it launched.
As for the launch jingle – I really liked the placenames sequence, a real shame that they only used it once.

September 24, 2005 at 7:56 am #25166martinlesterMemberAuthorThe figures are public record shown on the Website,
As for Capital ,after Johnny Vaughn has lost 161,000 Listeners , I still don’t understand the logic of re-running the all singing all dancing TV advert as if thats going to make anyone what to turn on !
I wonder how long it will take for them to get the message !
💡 Actually I have just treated my self to a DAB radio as I am getting sick of what the london stations have been offering so if anyone has any recomendations of what to listern to, I will give them a try next week

September 24, 2005 at 10:40 pm #25170scaryThe figures are on whch website – Rajars or Smooths? Either way the last official Rajar figures covered the time *before* the relaunch. The next set of figures are the important ones for Smooth
As for Capitals, they always knew that they were going to have a large loss in the transition between Tarrant and Vaughn and are in it for the long term. They’re could be happy with 161,000 in the sense that it could have been a heck of a lot more. And there is also demographics – they might have a lower audience, but with a more preferable demographic or more hours…. one figure of total listeners doesn’t tell you the whole story
DAB in London – I would have reccommended The Virgin Groove as being worth a listen, but it’s disappeared. Give 6music and BBC7 a try, a DAB set is worth it for those alone

February 9, 2007 at 9:29 am #28953martinlesterMemberAuthorWell 2 Years on following the recent departure of Programme Director Mark Walker from Smooth FM in London
It looks like the Smooth FM will be no more Change of name to Smooth Radio
Change of Music Policy and David Prever and mid-morning host Kevin Greening are on the way Out
The New Station the target audience of over 50 year-olds
One thing they have done right is Gavin McCoy (Sid the Manager) will join as Programme Controller, and could be on the air as well.
This is all going to take place on 26th March 2007 hopefully they will employ a Promotions Manager that knows what He / She is doing this time
Get some new Sung Jingles (to replace the old bespoke Jingles) hopefully from JAM or Jones TM
Get a New Voice to replace the very worn out sounding Mitch Johnson Liners
February 10, 2007 at 10:02 am #28960JingleMadMemberthey caould always get resings of primetime radio package

March 8, 2007 at 5:05 pm #29210JingleMadMemberIt would be good to use mitch on air ..if they dont use him on the station package
It will also good to see Dan on air daytime in the northwest ..hes got more going for him rather than that ex rockfm chap who fills in on swing …he sends me to sleep
March 9, 2007 at 4:40 am #29211FashionFunkI have to agree, the place names were too low volume in that sequence, and i aint that old.
