Scotland 18th September 2014 – who knows what tomorrow brings…

But in the meantime, a sprinkling of jingles for Scottish stations, old and new… :)

Does “Yes” mean you will get back “Local” Radio to your fair land?? :-D

          Doubt it Pete!
(Germans, Irish, misc other tax haven dwellers…)

Only “real local radio” in these parts are “tape radio days” stalwarts like Norman & Sylvia in Peterhead, Kingdom in Fife, maybe the Findlay family, and Ian Anderson in the Shetlands, plus a handful of others. (I purposely “ignore” mention of certain “community” stations – they give “vanity stations” a bad name…)

BBC Radio Scotland, bless their cotton socks, would still do their totally NON-England-Beeb-local style of programmes in their own inimitable way (no McCanno here…)

Won’t know which way things will go until early morning – but first time in my voting history of over 40 years that I’ve actually had to QUEUE up to get in to the polling station :-D

If you cast your mind back to 1985, and Back to the Future, Marty’s family photos were starting to fade away as it looked like he may not bring his parents together.

Well, some of the old Radio One jingles were starting to fade away last night. Have a listen…

              Now that IS clever :)

Actual politics and personal feelings aside, conversely I think that the legacy of these events is that if ever such jingles get re-sung in the future, the backing tracks will have to be digitally cut-&-pasted to make them much longer to accomodate all the (federal?) “devolved” lyrics that would clearly have to be applied as a result of the “Vow” made by the politicians of Westminster :-D

              First verse:-

              “Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wales,
Yorkshire (People’s Public of [for Big Dave! :) ]), Aye, Scotland, too,
              Geordieland, Brummies, and Scousers”

              Second & subsequent verses:-
              (add as appropriate…)

And now, back to JM’s “regular programming”… :-D

Nice one Rak, enjoyed that. And Iain, welcome back to normality.

No doubt look forward to your lyrics making an appearance… if radio is ever devolved.
