Having listened to Ron’s latest YouTube video, I noticed that he’s dropped his PAMS resings and is now using new JAM jingles. He sent me a link to a YouTube montage of these new cuts. Here is the link in case you haven’t come across it yet. Enjoy!

May 13, 2013 at 7:31 am #90132mjb1124MemberHaving listened to his latest aircheck on DRC’s YouTube channel, I must admit this change will take some getting used to, as the show has a decidedly different feel now without the 60’s PAMS material. I guess maybe Ron and/or station management felt that the PAMS jingles had become anachronistic next to the largely 70’s/80’s-based music mix. But hey, it’s a nice selection of 80’s JAM cuts, and Ron still sounds great on the air.

May 13, 2013 at 12:49 pm #90141LenGroatStriking a balance between keeping existing (faithful) listeners, and changing the station in an attempt to bring in younger ones, is dangerous. Your loss of audience from the older segment rarely equals those new ones ~ who tend to have shorter attention spans/ too many distractions?
As Ron’s show is Saturday night (lower listening/ commerically not crucial) I’d think it SAFER to stick with the older music and balance of PAMS/ JAM he had?
It is ageist to label 50s / 60s music (and jingles) as ‘past it’ ~ just look at You Tube and many under 30s LOVE old songs they never knew first time around… and the jingles WORK with it !

May 13, 2013 at 9:05 pm #90147loujosephsOn this day in 1939, the 1st commercial FM radio station in America was launched in Bloomfield, CT. The station later became WDRC 102.9
May 15, 2013 at 10:25 pm #90173dianablanton1984MemberI do enjoy Ron’s new JAM jingles, and it’s still great to see that the energy is still going on during Ron’s Saturday night show, despite the fact that the music is now largely 70s-80s based. Can’t go wrong with JAM jingles I must say!!!
May 17, 2013 at 5:15 am #90188RockinRonThanks for the kind words, everyone! It was a bittersweet decision. I love the old PAMS material. With our recent music shift to late 70s and 80s, it just wasn’t sounding right anymore. I love Jon’s Classic JAM material, and will continue to add more high energy jingles over time. Stay tuned in, and turned on!
