The new KIIS 2015 package with a new vocal sound has just been released. Not everybody on JingleMad will like them but it’s easy to see why ReelWorld continues to lead the way with today’s CHR.
Embedded at home.recnet.com/soundcloud
Individual cuts are at http://reelworld.com/jingles#chr/kiis2015

an element will harp about how theyre no good or not like some old limp cut from the 80’s, but in todays world? these guys have the winning formula. hot hot hot, and good. their stuff does what it has to to flow the format forward.
September 5, 2014 at 12:13 am #95601IanFI like them and the new vocal sound too
September 5, 2014 at 5:07 am #95603michiMemberThe vocals are growing on me.. but I do like them.. they are different. I wonder if this package is actually going on KIIS Los Angeles. I am pretty sure some KIIS packages (KIIS 90 comes to mind) never really aired on KIIS or aired for only an extremely short period of time. I lived in LA in 1989 and 1990 and I don’t ever remember hearing KIIS90 on the air. Anyway, this KIIS package is pretty refreshing.. Now that I have heard it again, I do like it.
September 5, 2014 at 5:34 am #95604ratnobMemberAlways did love jingle demos that demonstrated the way jingles create segues between songs. ReelWorld vocals are never to my taste (and I crave the occasional unexpected lyric), but I can see how they work for an audience that isn’t me and certainly match the texture of the songs.
September 6, 2014 at 11:50 am #95616radio_blokeMemberNot only is the first Reelworld demo that I didn’t turn off half way through!
I have listened to it many times trying to work out why I didn’t turn it off!I echo what Geoff says, hearing the cuts in context you have to agree they work really well with todays “pop” music. I think the tweak in vocal sound is a good move.
September 6, 2014 at 1:33 pm #95617ratnobMemberWhat is the ‘tweak’ in the vocal sound, by the way? I couldn’t quite ‘get’ that bit.
September 6, 2014 at 1:42 pm #95619Jim DonahueThey are a perfect match for today’s pop music sound. In other words, I will be steering well clear – the auto-tuned, tweaked vocals, ultra compressed sound makes me switch off every time!
September 6, 2014 at 2:33 pm #95620IainJohnstonI thought the “tweak” was a slight softening / less harsh vocal sound – thinking perhaps they’re learning “backwards” from the success of the UK-based European division with its more “civilised” vocals approach?
What DID surprise me was the return to the “stuttering CD” effect – perhaps thats now considered a trendy “retro” effect for the teenage/early 20s KIIS “West Coast” target audience?
PS – I’m sure the phrase “today’s ‘pop’ music” wouldn’t be understood in many radio places … “pop” ????!??!?!?! )
Anyway, the package does exactly what it says on the tin – it’ll syndicate well
September 7, 2014 at 12:33 pm #95632professor1036I like them…they’re very good.
I’m getting the idea that these are UK vocals perhaps or a mixture of US and UK? Could be wrong…
September 7, 2014 at 1:01 pm #95633mbMemberI wasn’t sure what the new vocal tweak was – very signature Reelworld to me.
They sound strong, powerful, clear and gel with todays hit music they are being played up against. No doubt it’s a great product. Well produced and sounding great!September 7, 2014 at 3:06 pm #95635TommyI’m a fan. I think they sound great.
As for the new vocal sound – to me – it sounds like a different accent. (One that I’m not familiar with here in America.)
Instead of “KISS EFF EM” it becomes “KISS AAHHFF AAHHMMM.” Hard to explain. Maybe I’m looking into it too much.
September 7, 2014 at 5:00 pm #95636GrahamCollinsI too didn’t notice anything different. They could have been taken from any KIIS FM Reelworld package from the last 12 years and I’d have been none the wiser. Stuttering vocals and telephone bandwith passes are nothing new. I cannot get excited by them although I acknowledge the effort and production wizardry. If the client got what they ordered, then job well done.
September 7, 2014 at 5:13 pm #95637pvankleiMemberThis new KIIS 2015 package from Reelworld is much better than previous KIIS and Z100 packages with those squeaky sounds and auto-tune voices. I lost my interest in Reelworld jingles for a couple of years now because they all sounded the same.
Last week I was in Portugal and listened to KIIS FM Algarve. They use previous KIIS jingles from Reelworld with a lot of auto-tune, but didn’t fit at all between hit music they played.
I really don’t understand why radiostations still using jingles with auto-tune. It’s so ’90s.
