Reelworld this week are recording the vocal sessions, for the new Heart Network package, apparently going on air on September the 2nd.

It seems like Global’s love affair with iqbeats has ended.
July 24, 2014 at 10:46 pm #95279simon_t123MemberI see the vocals are being recorded in London ? would this be then the more ‘UK’ sounding vocalists / UK vocal group performing on the Heart package ? I prefer the signature US Reelworld vocal sound … Looking forward to these either way mind as for a moment I thought Heart were coming away from sung ID’s when they started entering breaks with instrumental / VO tagged ramps …
July 25, 2014 at 8:04 am #95280professor1036I agree…this is big for ReelWorld and the Salford division in particular who appear to be picking up quite a few clients.
I’m guessing Heart will continue to use a few instrumentals with VO’s tagged at the back, with sung ID’s at key junctions.
It will be interesting to hear these on-air…
September 15, 2014 at 11:41 am #95703simon_t123MemberGreat news … having a listen now … initial impression #feelgood !
September 15, 2014 at 12:04 pm #95704simon_t123Member… news appears to be the same as it has been for a while now (IQBeats ?) …
September 15, 2014 at 7:09 pm #95705jonnoMemberI was thinking the same, but I was still half asleep this morning when I was listening
September 16, 2014 at 9:10 pm #95717LenGroatNot heard these yet as no audio posts from ReelWorld – but in the ‘real world’ of JingleMad contributors all of the last 6 audio posts (right) are about JAM or TM…..
September 17, 2014 at 1:23 am #95718bobgreenradioMemberthats true. kinda like a swanboat glide down ‘memory’ lane.
September 19, 2014 at 9:58 am #95753IainJohnstonHmmmm
The “style” of the ramp vocals is “reminiscent” lets say of “other producers” of such format material for quite some time … I’m sure others will no doubt have their say.
However, RW have stepped up to the likely brief and the sheer polish of the instrumentation & production is excellent, and (no pun intended…) a lot “smooth-er” than many would be accustomed to from RW – I’d say the “RW UK/Europe influence” is definately working
Thanks for posting!
September 19, 2014 at 10:41 am #95754simon_t123MemberOn the whole not bad but … very similar to exactly what was made before ! Perhaps it’s the Radio 2-esque idea that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it (that much !) … I like them better than the IQ Beats cuts of late, there is new travel but ‘old’ news … which I don’t get as news is supposed to be about all things ‘new’ ! The vocals are almost bang on IQ Beats also, I wonder if the same session singers could’ve been sourced ?
When I heard that Heart was going to use Reelworld, I was expecting those typical key based harmonies that Reelworld do … for (almost) everyone else !
September 19, 2014 at 5:24 pm #95764IanFVery nice cuts. I do like these new vocals/singers too!
September 19, 2014 at 6:09 pm #95765IainJohnstoncut by cut… just 7 cuts + news & traffic? Or have I missed something?
(OK, I know, 3 versions of each “lyric” and several “lengths”)September 19, 2014 at 7:56 pm #95766ratnobMemberSome great tracks here.
September 20, 2014 at 12:08 am #95767martinlesterMemberAs the TV advert is using the Tag Line ” Give it some Heart”
This would have been an excellent idea to make a few sings instead of This is Heart
to “Give it some Heart “
(Remember PD people that listen will remember a Sung Tag line more than a spoken one)
September 20, 2014 at 11:19 am #95771radio_blokeMemberQuite good, sounds kinda 80’s, like Stock Aitken & Waterman…..
Like the slightly softer vocals, although vocal adlib on jingles should be a criminal offence.September 20, 2014 at 3:44 pm #95778LenGroatMartin: Good point – “Remember PD people that listeners will remember a Sung Tag line more than a spoken one”. Too many ‘suits’, consultants, creative team people and radio futurologists!?
Iain: “cut by cut… just 7 cuts – Or have I missed something?”
No, that’s right, just SEVEN cuts…
Coincidentally – the new jingle package for Solid Gold Gem.AM, has, errr….
SEVEN cuts!
… as many as (quote) “The UK’s #1 Commercial station” – but on a rather smaller budget
How DO we do it? First audio soon!
September 20, 2014 at 5:59 pm #95788GrahamCollinsMmmm – nice and bouncy, certainly very catchy but it prompted me to pull out the first IQBeats package from 2001 and it’s hard to tell any real difference. I would bet the audience is completely unaware of any change…..
September 20, 2014 at 6:13 pm #95790UKJinglesMemberAny station that plays Proper Jingles has to be good and these are certainly better than any of the IQBeats Stuff!
September 20, 2014 at 6:16 pm #95791Good Time OldieI like them and they do have a more UK sound vocally, the “Jingle Queen” Emily M is cool but a change is as good as a rest sometimes. As for the front “vocal licks/adlibs”, personally I like that, I always ask for it where possible and don’t forget you’ll get mixes without them too.
So yep, very good RW!
September 20, 2014 at 7:03 pm #95793professor1036Reelworld have done a very good job with these idents. Good to hear that they’ve gone with a different vocal group to the existing RW product. Sounds like a mixture of UK and US production…which gives RW a different perspective. Even though the logo is similar to the IQ beats packages…this could be easily syndicated for the various “Lite FM” stations dotted around the world.
Seven cuts. Could mean that this package maybe regularly updated? We shall see.
October 10, 2014 at 10:14 am #95988simon_t123MemberIncidentally … has anyone heard localised brekkie resings outside of London ? I was checking Essex & Kent this week & have not heard any, just a generic donut in those regions, reading into that I wonder if there’ll be a switch to a nationally delivered weekday brekkie show on the Heart Network within the lifetime of this (really rather good) jingle package …
And the previous IQ Beats news intro still persists … EVERYWHERE !!! The Reelworld version does have some strong instrumentation upfront that’s not really necessary when the jocks are voicing the top of hour liner, there’s a kind of melody in the Reelworld news intro that makes it too ‘busy’ sounding …
October 28, 2014 at 9:13 am #96104tom_hheart is now using a new news jingle. Sounds like Reelworld have remixed the one on their website.

November 6, 2014 at 9:10 am #96156LastyMemberListened to Heart Kent this morning and heard localised brekkie IDs for the first time. Anybody heard a local ID where you are?
