Here’s a sample hour from WCBS-FM. It’s from a midnight hour which isn’t one of their core dayparts, but still seems pretty representative to me.
12:03 AM KISS Rock And Roll All Nite (Live) 1975 G
12:06 AM JACKSON, MICHAEL Human Nature 1983 G
12:10 AM TOTO Africa 1982 G
12:15 AM BENATAR, PAT Love Is A Battlefield 1983 G
12:19 AM QUEEN Another One Bites The Dust 1980 G
12:25 AM MINOGUE, KYLIE The Loco-Motion 1988 G
12:28 AM WONDER, STEVIE Part-Time Lover 1985 G
12:32 AM CROSS, CHRISTOPHER Ride Like The Wind 1980 G
12:35 AM P!NK Get The Party Started 2001 G
12:38 AM BOWIE, DAVID Let’s Dance 1983 G
12:43 AM LIPPS, INC. Funkytown 1979 G
12:47 AM POLICE Wrapped Around Your Finger 1983 G
12:51 AM B-52’S Love Shack 1989 G
12:58 AM UB40 Red Red Wine 1983 GBy the way, they haven’t been targeting Boomers in several years, probably not since Scott Shannon came in. It’s aimed more at the older end of Generation X if anything. I can’t see how these jingles would appeal to that demo either, but what do I know? This Millennial certainly doesn’t like them much.

Not sure how they can be used to good effect for a slow record
Strange Len has not had anything to say about this
November 4, 2018 at 8:31 pm #103180IainJohnstonTo be honest Martin, when have any of us in recent times heard a “tempo” jingle as such used
properly on a UK radio programme, commercial or BBC, or a “transition cut” in a fast-to-slow
or slow-to-fast etc transition??As for a “slow record”, on some late evening Radio 2 programmes I find that the overall pace
of ALL the music appears to have been chosen to be anything but “relaxing” after a busy day,
and indeed the presenters seem hell-bent on talking faster and faster and more & more “waffly”.“Pace & Tempo” to quote the old TM Productions Phase II is something that no longer seems to exist.
November 5, 2018 at 1:27 pm #103184PKMemberI agree sadly the art of knowing the right jingle to use at the right time with the right music in the right situation sadly seem to be lost in modern radio especially in Britain.
It’s as though almost every jingle has to have a ramp full of whoa whoa yeah yeah pointless vocals regardless of music format new or old, rock, pop, oldies. No thought for slow or mid tempo music making segues that sound like there is a brick wall in the middle!
Is it just me or have I finally gone mad lol?

No, just JINGLE MAD :^)
Not all stations are as you describe PK…
…one near me is playing bootleg 1960s PAMS etc edits that sound straight off a Dutch collectors’ CD![ whether they’re doing it LEGALLY and paying JMW etc the proper airplay royalties is maybe doubtful though… ]
November 5, 2018 at 9:56 pm #103187IanFSome of us care…..I paintakingly match the music and the correct kind of, or nearest, jingle before I do my show. I always try to find the closest in tempo and vocals. Sounds much better when I do
November 18, 2020 at 7:33 pm #105445JustinSaysRadioHow is this sad news? The only thing that is sad is that Classic Hits radio does not sound the same, anymore! However, that is how Classic Hits radio is. It just adapts to the times.

You seem to be “replying” to a two year old dormant post, as if it was concurrent.
Are you unable to “see” the datestamps on the thread entries?November 19, 2020 at 12:21 am #105442JustinSaysRadioI see them.
