Here comes the compulsory question whenever a new station begins; anyone know what company are behind the radio Plymouth jingles?

According to the considerable “chatter” about this station “in another place”, the “majority owners” of the station already have a track-record of being somewhat mean when it comes to expenditure on their station “tools” (which includes even actual staff). So I wouldn't expect anything exciting!

Have they gone on-air as yet, or still testing/DABing?

No they went on air today, the launch and opening jingle can be found on Radio Today. Get listening Wixy and give me your professional jingle singing opinion on who they could be from :-)

Listening to the launch audio on Radio Today it sounds like they're using TM Studio's Channel 4 Hot AC package.

Spot on Rob, it is the Channel 4 custom package. Commissioned by NeaI Bowden the boss at Channel 4 in Dubai, UAE.

I`ve mixed the Radio Plymouth cut and Channel 4 as a sampler.

This cut is actually “Custom 03 Ramp Full”. The Channel 4 cut features a Muslim instrument called the “oood” (not sure of the spelling !)and were used during Ramadan, perhaps Neal will chime in about this package – good to hear it on-air in the UK at Radio Plymouth.

Here's Neal's original thread on the package:

The package is also (was last time I tuned in) on air on the Bolton community station Bolton FM.

Cheers Rob, that thread from Neal clarifies everything, when I wrote the “ooood” instead of the “oud” – Dr Who must have been lurking here…
