Hopefully theres not another thread talking about this but listening to Radio One today I heard a few cracking Radio One Jingles from the early 90's JAM era. Fairly certain I heard One FM as a shotgun from either Closer To The Music or The Ultimate One, and a short ID sung BBC Radio One, not sure what else the stations had in use as I'm not a usual Radio One listener, I'm sure there might be a few more jingle rarities as the station approaches its 40th Birthday this weekend …
September 20, 2007 at 3:04 pm #33117SeanMartinAnd hopefully there's a budding anorak making scoped airchecks to post here later!
September 20, 2007 at 3:42 pm #33123GrahamCollinsThe birthday is not this weekend but next – the 30th.
Just so you don't waste a lot of tape/DVDs/HDD space !September 20, 2007 at 3:54 pm #33125simon_t123MemberAuthorI wish I had the facilities to oblidge, good to hear them tho …
September 21, 2007 at 9:06 am #33160BarrasGreat to hear JAM back on Radio One…Chris Moyles is using several JAM cuts including You`ve Got It (cut #08) “The Golden Hour” resing and he used the Jon Wolfert sonovox “Radio One” in nearly every link !

September 21, 2007 at 10:11 am #33167gameswizardMemberfunny innit?
listening to Ian's montage,i didn't hear one jingle after the 1990 package.
just 70's,80's and the 1990 jingles.
or maybe chris moyles just likes the radio 1 jingles that they used to play.
those jingles sound just as good now as they did back then.September 21, 2007 at 10:16 am #33169nickpledgeTotally agree, but is this because Jam are the only people to supply these special jingles? Would love to know how many jam did!

September 21, 2007 at 10:33 am #33170simon_t123MemberAuthorThinking of last time Mr Moyles played a few Jam cuts, didnt that cause a few issues with Jam ? I think that clearance was not sought to air the cuts back then. I remember Moyles on early breakfast using the “Britains Favourite Radio One” TOH ramp with pips. Sounded great actually ! Considering at the time Radio One was using Groove Addicts sweepers package. I imagine as it's 40 years of Radio One they've got clearance to air the cuts this time ! It's part of their heritage after all …
September 21, 2007 at 10:34 am #33171simon_t123MemberAuthorJust looking @ Gameswizards post I agree theres no post 1990 cuts in that montage, the cuts Sara Cox was using were from 1990, 1992 & possibly a shotgun from 1994 …

September 21, 2007 at 12:26 pm #33177SeanMartinThanks Ian for that superb aircheck.

September 21, 2007 at 12:37 pm #33178InfernoThanks for posting that Ian. Brilliant! Those JAM jingles are so much better than those Music Bore jingles! Heard them earlier this week and it made my day. Well done Radio One appreciating their heritage. I have to say those JAM jingles sound great on air. I bet the teenagers would probably say that they are cheesy though. Shame.
Who would be the realistic choice to da a new jingle package for Radio 1 now? I would like Wise Buddah or maybe IQ Beats to do something.

He is indeed Sean. Chris Moyles was on Steve England's mailing list when he was at Horizon Radio.
September 22, 2007 at 3:45 pm #33225IanMemberGlad you all liked it guys.
Thanks for the comments.September 22, 2007 at 6:29 pm #33235mbMemberSomething tells me Chris would love to perrper his regular shows with classic Radio 1 jingles – and don't they sound good on air! Maybe you need to be over 25 to appreciate them but it's the most lively I've heard radio 1 for years.
September 22, 2007 at 7:24 pm #33238IanMemberhere here
September 22, 2007 at 7:52 pm #33240wiggerssame goes for me as well, radio 1 after 9.00 is awesome, old records and the old jam jingles fantastic, bring back jam to radio 1.

September 24, 2007 at 11:35 am #33285SeanMartinHere's a short lesson in Radio 1 history I produced a few years ago, narrated by former Radio 1 controller, Johnny Beerling. The original context was for JAM's 30th birthday (no . . THIS version isn't on the CD), but it seems equally relevant now as Radio 1 celebrates another decade on the dial. Oh, and it's also a lot better having it “out there” than living in silence on my computer desktop!
QUIZ: How many jingles feature in this presentation?
Johnny Beerling – Radio 1
