Well, this is an interesting one . . . . I often heard “about” this Adrian Baker jingle but never actually heard it until now.
      Here’s what I believe to be the reality . . .

      1. On the “Happy Birthday Radio One” PAMS jingle, Jon Wolfert is (exceptionally) singing with the group (3rd guy part, I think)

      and . . ..

      2. The Birthday Song was produced at JAM, by JAM as a gift to Radio One.
Rumour has it that they first of all said “thanks, but we can’t play it on air because it would cost a bomb for copyright clearance on the Beach Boys melody”.
Did anyone ever actually hear it on air?

Where did the link to Adrian Baker start, I wonder? Any idea, Pete?

        Hi Sean,

This is an “off-Air” copy of the song……Gary Davis actually talks over the end of it….I was told by someone who worked their at the time it was Adrian Baker (having heard his demo it does sound the same vocal sound)
The PAMS cut on my example was badly edited and used on Steve Wright
(pre- Cool Edit days I guess!) :)
The proper version actually sings “Happy Birthday Radio One…21 Years Of Fun…..Music….On Radio One”

        Regards,

        Pete

adrian baker…i'm sure he was the lead singer of pop group “gidea park” who had a hit with 'beach boy gold' in the early 80's.
