I need a smacked bum for forgetting which PAMS series is full of Beatles influenced stuff.
TM/MMIs Capital Gold package includes cuts along the lines of “River Deep Mountain High” “God Only Knows” & “Good Golly Miss Molly”.
I believe that Graham Dene had a jock cut influenced by “Good Vibrations”.

Pat Sharp runs them on his Century Evening Show.

KenR once upon a time analyzed many of the PAMS packages and where the cuts were ripped from. For example, Series 29's Swing-a-nova cut is a rip-off of an obscure Ray Charles song. If I can find the sampler, I'll post it for grins 'n chuckles.

And aren't their stations VERY different-sounding from those
in the UK, to say the least! And so many use jingles to separate
between the music tracks (can't even say “records”
nowadays), especially when so much output is on automatic
e.g. Vibration / Plus / Forum where we were in the Loire Valley
with a “presenter” only dropping-in for a couple of minutes
per hour.has links to European station streaming
for those that might like to hear something different from
UK clone-radio.[ Edited Mon Jul 31 2006, 09:50PM ]

I worked with a lot of cuts from the Capital FM packages that were done by Music4 (formerly Vibe Music). I remember sound-a-likes of Travis [Sing]; Nelly Furtado ; What took you so long [Emma Bunton] etc.
In one of the WLS packages by JAM there are a lot of cuts based on songs from the Beatles…

Now I remember the PAMS series with Beatles stuff.Series 26D.
This next item is cheating, but the theme to “The Kit Curran Radio Show” was resung by the actor Denis Lawson for definately Radio Clyde & Southern Sound.
Back to another influence.
Alfasound did a jingle for Beacon Radio influenced by Whams “Wake me up before you go-go”.While County Sound flashes back to the 70s by using a bit of “Theme from Shaft”.

Beacon had the EMISON Shaft News in the 70's along with a slow 'Music is the sunshine' jingle that sounded very similar to Billy Paul's 'Me and Mrs Jones'.
The Wake Me up Beacon jingle was part of the 1987 set.
Greatest Hits of the 60's was based on 'She Loves You' by The Beatles
Greatest Hits of the 70's was based on 'Lying Eyes' by The Eagles
Greatest Hits of the 80's was based on 'Wake Me Up Before You Go Go' by Wham!
I'm sure the 80's cut was reused recently for that awful Floors To Go ad. It was definitely Steve England singing both. There are loads whooshing around in my head but the only other one I can think of comes from the JAM Class Action package for WLS where one cut is a blatant take off from the track 'Best Of My Love' by The Emotions.

Manchester's Key 103 (UK) are using a jingle this week in the style of Summer Holiday by Cliff Richard. It's being used on the Toolan in the Morning show, which is coming live from Majorca.

The WFLC “97.3 The Coast” Christmas cuts by TM Century are based on “Last Christmas” by Wham!, “Driving Home For Christmas” by Chris Rea,and “All I Want For Xmas Is You” by Mariah Carey.
There's also a couple of cuts resung for Radio Clyde and Hallam where Barbara Dickson has relyriced “Answer Me” about somewhere…and also Pilot relyriced “January” for a number of stations as well

I remember from a few years ago, this subject being talked about before on Jingle Mad, however, just to mention again, Metro Radio had several jingles in the 1970s and 1980s modelled on songs of the time.
For example, here`s a Metro Radio jingle in the style of 10cc`s I`m Not In Love…
http://www.streamload.com/davidbarras/Emison_Metro_10cc.mp3
Another Metro Radio cut in the style of Abba`s song called Dancing Queen…
http://www.streamload.com/davidbarras/Emison_Metro_Abba.mp3
Here`s a news theme jingle from Metro Radio which was on-air int he late 1970s. The music is in the style of the brass-theme taken from the movie Shaft.
http://www.streamload.com/davidbarras/Emison_Metro_NewsShaft.mp3
As I`ve mentioned several times on Jingle Mad, one of my jingle Holy Grails is to get the complete package of cuts recorded by Tyneside pop-group Lindisfarne. They re-sang several of their hits to include Metro Radio lyrics. For example…
http://www.streamload.com/davidbarras/Lindisfarne_Metro_WarmFeeling.mp3
AND here`s the resing Dave Nightingale mentioned, it`s Pilot`s January for Radio Hallam…

MemberAnother one I remember is The Wolf had one that sounded like the Friends theme as well.
Also, to add to the list, were 2 GWR FM jingles (yes, GWR and jingles in the same breath).
One was Thunderbugs and one was Britney Spears.
I have them somewhere on my PC

There was a Metro jingle which was based around 'Am I The Same Girl' by Dusty Springfield late covered by Swing Out Sister. It appeared on quite a lot of the JD3 mixes last year possibly because of the the song was sampled by Joss Stone around the time.

ANOTHER one from Metro Radio is their news theme used in the mid 1980s. This is a musical theme taken from the song called Music by North-East singer John Miles.

I've been listening to some old Capital cuts on the Ipod this morning, and the “Summertime In London” cut doesn't half sound like “This Time I Know It's For Real” by Donna Summer.
Maybe it should be “Donna Summer-time in London…”
August 22, 2006 at 12:03 pm #22043Bigdave
There's also a station song on GEM AM's first JAM package which borrows heavily from the Four Seasons “Candy Girl”.Let me dig these out tonight, and I'll try and post them here….

Quite a few cuts from the 1989 package are based around chart records from that period. Others IIRC include 'Criticize' by Alexander O'Neal, 'She Drives Me Crazy' by the Fine Young Cannibals and 'Sweet Child Of Mine' by Guns 'N' Roses. Quite a tradition for the Groove Addicts and later Vibe cuts for the station to be done in the style of pop songs.

Invicta supergold had one that sounded like “my girl”, it had the bass guitar bit in it off the intro of the song.
