A lot(but NOT all!) of the jingles on here can be found on Youtube nowadays & other such video-sharing sites! however! i am still looking for an old Manx Radio jingle or piece of music!…i think it's from the 80s early 90's it played in the background sometimes when announcer mentioned the Isle of Mann Steam Packet or when a show was brought to you on behalf of Steam Packet! & NO!!!! that particular one is NOT on Youtube!

The audio quality on YouTube leaves a lot to be desired. Most videos <720p have low bit-rate audio.
I upload lots of standard definition video (NOT jingles) to YouTube with a HD profile just so that the audio is high quality even after YouTube has converted it.May 25, 2011 at 3:26 pm #79022IainJohnstonMemberAye, sure – many of the jingles presented on JM can indeed be found on YouTube, and indeed the audio quality via video-based sites is poor.
Remember though, that audio presented on JM is generally purposely "reduced" anyway to protect the proper interests of the jingle companies etc who kindly allow us to do what we do here – genuine Collectors have the material in "true" quality audio and only place it here in reduced quality as "shop window" samplers etc, and rightly do not "publish" such quality audio for very obvious reasons…
…e.g. such as the YouTube (and other) rip-off brigade who would pirate such high-quality material at the drop of a proverbial, and JMer's don't condone that.
What does really scunner me are the YouTube "posters" who rip a jingle audio presentation or montage thoughtfully compiled & crafted by others, shove a caption or two on, and then submit it to YouTube as if it was "all their own work" – when often it can be easily heard that it is anything but "their" work.

May 28, 2011 at 8:59 pm #79065IainJohnstonMemberLOL!
There's just not enough JMers in Scotland Stuart!
:^)Do you perhaps have any audio sample of the Manx Radio item (any quality whatsoever) in case any JMers can help find a good quality intact copy for you?

nah sorry m'fraid not! But from my description i thought it might've jogged someones memory on here! BTW you wouldn't happen to be a well known local radio presenter would you? like Colin McArdle ect…! Sorry for asking in case your not.

LOL – definately not! … but I do have what has been described as "a good face for radio…"
Many JMers have dubs (of varying quality) of Manx Radio ID jingle packages from that era & earlier/later – but considering that JM is a worldwide forum and the item you're looking for is pre-internet era, only someone "in range" of the then TXs might be able to recognise the description as to whether it was an actual ID jingle per se or a production bed/track from a music library or a commercially produced item for the advert itself.
Did the item actually have "Manx Radio" SUNG within it perhaps?

May 30, 2011 at 11:55 am #79075Geraniumthnx 4 the links anyway, but the 1'st S2Blue link(from it's description) is too new! & the thing i'm looking for was played around the mid to l8 80s & maybe even the start of the 90s!
The 2nd link i'll listen to when i'm @ my computer(writing this from my phone just now) & i'll get back 2 you & let you know.May 30, 2011 at 12:03 pm #79076Geranium"you wouldn't happen to be a well known local radio presenter would you?"

no but i'm sure it was used for shows SPONSORED by Isle of Man Steam Packet! i'm sure it was a piece of music or bed that played during the sponsorship thingy!

May 18, 2023 at 2:05 pm #109065BertMemberI believe i’ve found the Manx Radio Isle Of Man Steam Packet jingle that the guy was on about, its this one used I believe somewhere around the late 80’s early 90’s🤔
May 18, 2023 at 3:16 pm #109066IainJohnstonMemberWill be fascinating to hear if the guy now replies, after 12 years!
Seriously though, a lot of licensed music library stuff was used on air, KPM being just one of the well-known ones.
:^)May 18, 2023 at 3:28 pm #109068IainJohnstonMemberAnd by coincidence, I was playing an old file of 80s’s Manx Radio Tanner in the background earlier
while backing up files. For Tanner, their vocal sound at that time was much better than some earlier eras.(Edit:- already typed this, but it disappeared!)
Edit-2:- Bert – are you Geranmium?!?
:^)May 18, 2023 at 3:37 pm #109069BertMemberlol I doubt it, he’s probably moved on(meaning left the channel or gone somewhere else, who knows tbh) after all that time that’s passed, but I believe that might’ve indeed been the song that that person was after.
